    OK I can fit a DP isolator no problem Is the removing of the internal transformer & putting in a 240v lampholder an issue in itself?

    My key concern though is if there an inherrant problem with changing the internals over from transformer with 12v to 240v given that the units all had 240v going to them assuming that I didn't modify the external propoerties of the unit. BTW there is a seperate trip for the outside lights on...

    Thanks for the advice so far It's not modified externally & I only opened the bit that you open to change the lamp when I removed the transformer, I didn't break, remove or modify any seals. Good point about isolator, should I install something like this at the wall junction box...

    I paid £1500 for a soundproof stud wall as u described on a 5m long wall. Made little difference, can still hear the neighbours baby. I would never bother again, total waste of money. We're moving out of London and buying a detached place, expensive solution but it will work.
