    Thermostatic shower valve problem.

Checked the specs of the unit and it says "suitable for unvented systems and designed to control static pressure up to 10 bar but where pressure is likely to exceed 5 bar, a PRV must be fitted to the incoming mains". Judging by the force of the cold water tap I suspect it may be above 5 bar at...

    Thermostatic shower valve problem.

Thanks for coming back so quickly. Drip is from the shower head. In other words water is leaking through the valve then via the hose to the shower head. The drip is quite slight, probably only one or two drips per minute but enough to splash onto shower enclosure/tiles and give a lime scale...

    Thermostatic shower valve problem.

I have a real problem with a thermostatic shower bar which refuses to stop dripping. I replaced the washer in the on/off valve but still the drip. I then replaced the complete valve assembly but again no cure for the drip. I therefore assumed there must be damage to the valve seat so spent...

    PIR Lighting connections

I have an oldish (7 years) outside light with integral PIR. I want to install it just as an occasional use outside light but do not need/want the PIR function. The only possible feed is from a standard household mains socket (switched with 3amp fuse) but I am not sure how it should be wired...

    Honeywell HC60NG relay problem

From all of your replies can I take it that everyone believes the relay is faulty and should be replaced and that there is unlikely to be any other reason for the relay to behave the way it does i.e. briefly switching on then almost immediately switching off again.

    Honeywell HC60NG relay problem

Don't understand why Simond and Dan_Robinson say the relay unit (HC60NG) is obsolete. Seems to be widely available on the internet (Plumb centre, Plumbnation etc). Admittedly not cheap - £90 to £108 !!!!

    Honeywell HC60NG relay problem

Thanks for responding D Hailsham. Yes, green light on relay stays on continuously as long as thermo is calling for heat but power to actuator switches off after one or two seconds. Hope that makes sense.

    Honeywell HC60NG relay problem

Many thanks for responding so quickly. When you say it's obsolete do you mean it's no longer possible to buy a replacement? Not sure which button you mean - do you mean the manual lever on the actuator? If you mean the button on the relay then when it's pressed it has the same problem it...

    Honeywell HC60NG relay problem

My central heating is controlled by a wireless room thermostat (Honeywell HCW80) and the receiver/relay unit (HC60NG) which triggers the zone valve actuator. The system has worked perfectly for years but now has a problem. When the thermostat calls for heat the relay receives the signal (green...

Mains pressure domestic hot water problem

Many thanks to all of you who offered advice - much appreciated. In the end it did turn out to be debris (solder crumbs) in the hot feed. When I disconnected the check valve the first time everything seemed to be fine but I think the debris must have fallen out as I disconnected the hot supply...

Mains pressure domestic hot water problem

Fitted new check valve on hot supply this afternoon (yes it is the right way round) but unbelievably when the shower is turned off cold water still creeps back through the check valve and back up the hot pipe. I removed the valve to make sure there was no debris and that it was working and then...

Mains pressure domestic hot water problem

My house has a mains pressure domestic hot water system (no loft cistern). Seems to mostly work well except that there is backflow through the thermo shower mixer (cold water seeps back into hot water pipe when the shower is turned off). Can't understand how this happens as it's an unvented...

    Inspection chamber sizes

Laying a new path and need to raise the height of a sewage inspection chamber but can't seem to find the correct size of riser. The existing chamber (probably installed around 1989) has an outside diameter of approx 490mm and an inside dia of approx 482mm, but the only risers I can find are...
