All doors glossed - still 'sticking' 4 days later

Thanks for the response. Would that only temporarily fix the issue, or will the door stop sticking after a while itself? It's reduced now, but if you close a door all night and then open it the morning after, even a week after the glossing was finished, you still get a squelch noise. Also...

All doors glossed - still 'sticking' 4 days later

Hi Had my hallway decorated by decorators and they finished on Thursday. Everything was sanded right down to almost original undercoat and the handrail and spindles all had a coat of undercoat (as they had been painted with a really dark cherry paint before) and then a coat of Crown Quick...

Boiler overflow leaking but no loss of pressure

    petit_pablo, it's a Potterton 70l from what I can tell. About 10-12 years old I think.

Boiler overflow leaking but no loss of pressure

Pressure gauge goes up and down so it shouldn't be that. Filled to 1.5 bar, goes up to 1.7 bar when the hot water has been on for about half an hour. I'll check the boiler make and model.

Boiler overflow leaking but no loss of pressure

I'm assuming unvented. It's in the loft, and the expansion tank is next to it. How can I tell the difference? He is a Gas Safe registered plumber who we have used before (and he's done a good job before), and I guess this is just his experience telling him it'll be one of those two items, but...

Boiler overflow leaking but no loss of pressure

Another thing...the pipes that supply the boiler sound like they have quite a lot of air in. When it's on you can hear very faint noise, almost like fizzing/bubbling, coming from the pipes. Sure that's nothing to do with it but thought it might still be worth posting.

Boiler overflow leaking but no loss of pressure

Got an odd one here. My boiler overflow pipe started leaking we estimate sometime around six weeks ago (we noticed it dripping three weeks ago with a bit of green limescale on it, now it's got more limescale). It only leaks when the hot water comes on for 40 mins in the morning and in the...

Magnaclean leaking - coming through ceiling - help!

Thanks Tony I do have the latest one then, as I have the spare rings. You've given me a bit more confidence! :D

Magnaclean leaking - coming through ceiling - help!

Now paranoid that he's overtightened them. He said there was quite a bit of movement in both connections. I'll let it all cool down and see if it leaks, and then run it for a few days to make sure that no leaks occur. If not I'll turn the isolation valves off and clean it this weekend...

Magnaclean leaking - coming through ceiling - help!

Yeah, I've got the spanner. I've just heard so many horror stories over the past 24 hours. Athough he's said this morning that he's never had one leak from the valves. He has from the main o-ring in the lid (two or three out of about 30) but never from the valves or anywhere else, not with...

Magnaclean leaking - coming through ceiling - help!

No, he didn't isolate it. Just tightened up the connections...I'm actually quite worried about turning the isolation valves and causing a leak there. I know that's defeating the point but... :D

    Interfering Wireless Thermostat

I had a similar issue when we had our system installed last year. And you definitely can get interference from other wireless devices on any wireless device. It's rare, but not uncommon. At our last house whenever our phone rang, the next door neighbour's doorbell went off. Had a Honeywell...

Magnaclean leaking - coming through ceiling - help!

He has just been and tightened up the connections to that part of the Magnaclean. Apparently there was quite a bit of play on both connections. Where it is, is in a loft void above the utility. Therefore it gets really cold. He wonders whether the cold got to it, shrunk the joints/iced up a...

Magnaclean leaking - coming through ceiling - help!

Where can you get a Spirotech from? I've tried the websites of all local plumbing suppliers (like Plumb center) and nowhere seems to stock them. Closest I can find is a Sentinel.

Magnaclean leaking - coming through ceiling - help!

Hopefully this works...this is a (terrible) image of the problem. This is the bottom plastic connection of the Magnaclean. Sorry for poor text on image, I've got nine fractures in my hand and struggling to use computer.[/img]

Magnaclean leaking - coming through ceiling - help!

I don't think we've got enough money for another one unfortunately. We've had some expensive months, and that'd be another £120 I think. Cost of new pipework is £30 (inc the labour - ignoring the call out as I'd pay that for both). So it's either leave in place and repair the seal with the...

Magnaclean leaking - coming through ceiling - help!

I don't know if I can get out today as the snow is pretty bad. I live rural, so nothing in walking distance. So it may need to wait until tomorrow. At the moment constantly running the heating, whilst expensive, appears to be sorting the problem. It hasn't leaked since 07:30 this morning doing...

Magnaclean leaking - coming through ceiling - help!

It's leaking from the connectors to the Magnaclean. Not the lid. It's just beyond the isolation valve by the looks of things, as it's got a creamy, flakey mess around the thread. If I leave the heating running, it seems to stop the leak. I assume it's because heat is making the joint expand and...

Magnaclean leaking - coming through ceiling - help!

After 13 months in place and nobody touching it, it's decided to leak. From either the flow or return joint, I can't tell which. It's coming through the ceiling now. It appears to slow once the heating is up to temp, I assume because the joint expands slightly when hot, but overnight it's...
