Two way light switch with earth?

I am swapping out two metal light switches for plastic ones and notice that there are three wires, red, blue and yellow plus the metal earth wire all attached to the inside of the switch I am removing. Is this hence a two way switch and if so can I buy a plastic one that can make use of the...

FCU no neon display light - what is the safe approach

Using the Fluke elsewhere on FCU's and switches I get a positive indication of power. However I have tested the fluke over the back of the FCU and its wiring and I get nothing. 13a fuse added and still nothing. Suspecting a wiring issue upstream. New house for my sister in law so...

FCU no neon display light - what is the safe approach

I have taken out the FCU (spur) can see that its wired up but the Fluke tester is giving me no responses when the power went back on, perhaps as the switch is off/and fuse is missing. Looking at the wiring I can see that there is wiring into the Spur, three cables in fact, one going to an...

FCU no neon display light - what is the safe approach

Sorry, I didn't explain myself well. The FCU powers another circuit, a spur? However the light on the switch no longer comes on when switched on. http://www.screwfix.com/p/marbo-13a-dp-sw-fcu-neon/79130 Would Neon be the word I was after?

FCU no neon display light - what is the safe approach

I have a small issue that I am worried about and need a small bit of advice. Have an FCU (with light) that appears to have blown, the light no longer comes on. Using a Fluke electrical current tester I have established that there is no current.... So is no light a good indication of a blown...

Garage lights and sockets failed - old wiring issues I think

Just to add I traced the wiring further. The cable from the outside enters the garage and then is joined to another cable which attaches to a 'light switch', which feeds the bulbs in the garage. The switch itself itself appears very old indeed and has two internal terminals and a black 'unit'...

Garage lights and sockets failed - old wiring issues I think

Where would the fuse be in a garage - I know this sounds silly but it appears that the wiring come directly from the outside power source and into the switches and sockets. On the main RCB for the house there doesn't appear to be a switch for the garage.

Garage lights and sockets failed - old wiring issues I think

Just recently the lights and sockets in our detached garage have failed. Looking at the garage all I can see are a few wires running from what looks like an outside junction?? box (white and round) into the structure (which is wooden) and then to the light switch and the sockets. Haven't a clue...

Sewers under house - bad news?

Thanks John, yes this is my concern, its odd indeed from my experience to have under the house. The reason (I think) is that the house was built in land from another house and hence its been plonked right on top of the sewer system. Would it put others off? I does us I think....

Sewers under house - bad news?

The drain/water search has found a public sewer serving a number of properties running under a house that I looking to buy. Immediate reaction to having everyone's waste running under my house is not good, however just wondering how common this to find and whether there are health concerns...
