    Gangs to close any ideas?

    Having read previous responses I have seen Doggit has already pretty much said what I repeated. Best option for you is to give it a try otherwise you simply have to cut out tiles completely, hack into wall and get your tiler back.

    Gangs to close any ideas?

    Use a 115mm angle grinder with a diamond blade on it and really carefully cut out extra space required. Boxes will need pulling out carefully and putting back in without damaging the cable which might prove to be the sticking point. Very careful cutting out of brick/blockwork is also required...

    Downstairs lighting circuit MCB randomly tripping since electrician's visit last week.

    So in ccjjcc1 case perhaps a cable melted onto a heating pipe or some other such damage.

    Downstairs lighting circuit MCB randomly tripping since electrician's visit last week.

    Edit = complete circuit but not where it is supposed to be.

    Downstairs lighting circuit MCB randomly tripping since electrician's visit last week.

    My supposition at the time was that the circuit current was being entirely diverted away from returning back to the RCD hence there was no imbalance for the RCD to register in the sense that the outgoing side of the RCD never sees a return current to measure against. In any case, there was a...

    Downstairs lighting circuit MCB randomly tripping since electrician's visit last week.

    Some years ago whilst doing inspections and remedial work for a local authority prior to home improvements I came across a property with a socket circuit fault – I can’t exactly remember but it was something like a dead short to earth from live. RCD hadn’t tripped but was found to be faulty...

    Garden lamp post repair

    White flex looks like it might be the inner sheath of a SWA cable, therefore appropriate to the environment.

    Shower - Connect 15mm compression --> 1" BSP Male

    I would have a shot at Keithmac's link post 18 - if it works, which I think it should with some judicious fettling, then great. If it doesn't then just lost some time and not too many bucks.

    Shower - Connect 15mm compression --> 1" BSP Male

    Plumbing is not my speciality, hence the lack of a constructive response. Hopefully somebody will offer you a suitable solution.

    You put on the kit you designed it to take - the Mrs is allowed to be wrong just once in her life.

    NEFF INDUCTION HOP Fault

    Hello David, you can try switching (no power i.e. completely isolated) for at least 15 mins., maybe longer and sometimes this seems to recalibrate them. The two rings share one power supply (inverter) independent of the left side. Common problem is badly soldered PCB boards - large capacitors...

    Tracing a suspect pipe path and finding a leak

    The smoke bomb will have to be inside the known drainage system because only then are you going to know that any smoke signals are from within it.

    Motte, You will probably need an Insulation resistance tester to find out what/where the problems is.

    Trader put a nail into my underfloor heating

    Hello Paul, why did you not give him the plan showing where you had had the underfloor heating mat laid? Surely you showed him the pics of the mat which you had taken before it was covered over to preempt such eventualities?

    Egg box partition and load bearing

    I have a job to fix a electric towel rad to an egg box partition wall. Obviously egg box no good for supporting this kind of weight but the bathroom wall is tiled. Has anyone relied on the strength of tile adhesive/tiles to fix a load like this to an egg box partition? Opinions/experiences...

    consumer unit and RCDs

    As Westie101 says, the fault was already there - not created by, but merely discovered by the electrician. If you take your car to the garage and tell them to change the pads and discs and they ring you later to tell you the brake calipers are knackered so no point in putting new pads/discs on...

    Do Edmundson Electrical sell to the public?

    Give the local branch a bell first and just ask how much they cost, if they have them on the shelf etc. Usually they assume you are a sparks who knows the prices of things and will give a reasonable price, even if you are not on account. Go in looking gullible and they will take advantage, big...
