Wasn't sure whether to put this in "Trade Questions"...

I need to buy a bunch of fluorescent strip lights and screwfix aren't looking bargaintastic.

Do any non-trade folks out there buy from E-E?

Cheers
S.

I have many times, never had a problem

(though when I worked for a Leccy board that had it's own contracting section I could get better discounts)

Give the local branch a bell first and just ask how much they cost, if they have them on the shelf etc. Usually they assume you are a sparks who knows the prices of things and will give a reasonable price, even if you are not on account. Go in looking gullible and they will take advantage, big time!

Cheers, chaps. I'll give 'em a call and (hopefully) make sure I know what I'm talking about!

It would be an unusual wholesaler who declines to take your money! Just be honest with them, they'll help you out.

I've used one of their Edinburgh outlets recently, and didn't think their prices were very good.
They have three shops in this area so there's nothing stopping you from phoning them all.

Never had a problem buying from them, although they aren't massively cheap. I've also bought a few things from TLC, who tend to be cheaper and also don't cause issues. Last time the guy carried some 60x60 steel trunking out for me, before looking at the car, scratching his head and saying "I don't think it's going to fit." "I didn't think it would. I've got a hacksaw in the car". He even held it steady for me while I measured up and cut to size :)

They deliver ya know!

Thanks, folks. Hadn't thought of TLC and, right enough, they're cheaper than screwfix.

And I'll use the delivery service rather than ask them to saw the tubes in half :D
