    Damp spots on interior wall

Being the gable end it could well be that water is penetrating the exterior wall and affecting the interior. This is easily accomplished across wall ties if you have cavity walls or across the brick ties if you're double skinned.

    A moron replaced my water/heating timer..help

Ok after playing with the panel, hot water only does give what I need. The panel adjusts the hot water on/off time automatically to match a later or earlier CH time, which is what was bugging me. I've just tested setting heating on for 8am to 8:30 am, but hot water for 8am to 9am and it...

    A moron replaced my water/heating timer..help

If I am coming across as an arse, I don't mean to be. I'm not a heating engineer and as I said I appreciate people trying to help. Emboldening that central heating needs hot water just makes me feel like a child, since I know this, I'm fully aware that radiators fill up with hot water. The...

    A moron replaced my water/heating timer..help

OK thanks for this. That's fine, what I was trying to establish is there not a way to adjust the timer so that hot water comes on and central heating does not, without disabling the central heating altogether, leaving me with only manual control? Changing the timers just makes them match each...

    A moron replaced my water/heating timer..help

Am I confusing language here? When I say "hot water" I mean fill up a tank with hot water so it can come out of the hot water tap. When I say central heating, I mean make the radiators hot. So if powering up the heating means also ensuring hot water comes out of the hot taps, fine...

    A moron replaced my water/heating timer..help

Ok I did this. This only allows hot water and heating to be on the same timer. Ie one cannot come on without the other. Is this all we have on this system?

    A moron replaced my water/heating timer..help

Apologies but what do you mean by this? Right now there is only wiring on N L 3 and 4 but the system is not functioning as it was on the old timer. Are you saying I need a different timer? On the old timer you could turn on the hot water without hot radiators and you could turn the radiators...

    A moron replaced my water/heating timer..help

I just changed this, the boiler still does not come on when I tell the heating to fire up on the controller. No I'm not talking dip switches. If you look at the pictures, those terminals are numbered N L 1-4, left to right. I was working from memory when I said 5, apologies I meant 4...

    A moron replaced my water/heating timer..help

As I said in my last post, with the old timer the radiators didn't get hot with the old timer when the hot water was on. Also turning on the heating didn't require turning on the hot water manually. I've taken some pictures, hopefully they add some useful information...

    A moron replaced my water/heating timer..help

Thank you for your reply. It did work with the old timer. It was fully possible to have hot water and not hot radiators.

    A moron replaced my water/heating timer..help

Um..Did you actually read my post? How is the "they" mysterious when I said before I moved back home to look after my grandfather? "They" are my grandparents. I looked at the wiring diagram and moved the red wire from 1 to 3 on the Siemens box, which now results in the hot water coming on...

    A moron replaced my water/heating timer..help

Hi folks Before I moved back home to look after my grandfather they hired a moron to replace the Honeywell hot water/heating timer because they wanted to programme the on/off for the hot water/central heating separately (the Honeywell would only let you set a double on/off time, then you...
