potterton HE 115 powermax A01 lockout

Hi all, I've had the electrodes looked at and given a clean. No large gap but slightly corroded. It's been fine but I've ordered a new one to be fitted. Many thanks

Insulating external section of a stud wall

Hi there, not sure if the bricks are going to give much insulation against anything. Can't you stud the lot out and use some 100mm thermal board and maybe a vapour barrier? You'd be snug as a bug then. 50mm thermal board might give sufficient insulation, depending what you are using the room...

    Fixing into Thermalite

Hi There, I would agree It will cost a fortune in frame fixers to do that.Try fixing a batten from floor to ceiling with 4 or 5 size 10 x 4" screws, using brown plugs and a 6.5mm hole instead of the 7.0mm they suggest on the pack. I bet you can't pull it off. Work out your studs so your TV...

D-Head Ring nails or Plain Nails ?

Hi There, annular ring nails, I think that's what you are referring to, are tougher to pull out so I suppose it depends how much stick you plan to give the frame. Personally I use plain nails in my Paslode 1st fix nailer and I've never had anything fall over yet!!! I only ever buy annular...

can anyone recommend a universal cutter

Hi there, I've been thinking to buy a multi cutter as I often have to remove sections of timber from soffits and facias and as well as it taking ages I don't want to cause too much damage by using a chisel. It must be 110 volt or decent cordless as it's for site use. I've looked at a Bosch...

Is this a Victorian soil pipe vent?

Hi there, I only suggested this as in the past I have come across blockages where there is no manhole and the vent drops straight onto the interceptor. If you've got a manhole then cement is fine - you can rod or jet from there. I found a bung yesterday at B&Q warehouse for £2.00 in the...

Is this a Victorian soil pipe vent?

Hi there, the ones I have used either push inside the pipe, not the collar or slide over the pipe, again not the collar. It's only my personal preference - I need to think I might be called back one day to jet the drain so I'd rather use the bung. Cement and newspaper would do just fine though.

potterton HE 115 powermax A01 lockout

Hi all, thanks for the advice. What years were considered early? - mine was bought in Febraury 2005. It's definitely a Potterton not the Range. Not wishing to stir up anything, but what happened to cause the occupant to die on the incorrectly serviced model and was ith the Potterton or the...

Is this a Victorian soil pipe vent?

sorry i don't have a link. If you pop in to any decent merchant they should be able to sell you a bung - normally they are made from plastic or rubber and push into or slide over the pipe. Thetype that slide over normally have a jubilee clip to secure it in place

Is this a Victorian soil pipe vent?

Hi there, I'm new to the forum, but run a drain clearance business so have come across a few of these. I'd take it out very carefully, digging down a little to expose an undamaged connection if posible - DON'T drop any rubble in though or you may cause a blockage and wished you'd never...

potterton HE 115 powermax A01 lockout

Hi nickso, thanks for that, A01 is" failure to light eg no gas or no spark", and manual suggests check gas supply and gas valve operation and clean or replace ionisation probe and lead. Further actions suggested are check fan and spark operation, check flue for blockage, check condensate...

potterton HE 115 powermax A01 lockout

Hi There, Hi all - I'm new to this so I hope I am not starting a thread that's already been covered. I've had a Potterton HE115 Powermax for 6 years, and despite all the negative comments I've read it's actually been brilliant. It's only suffered from a blocked hose to the primary expansion...
