Cutting a carpet for a basement trapdoor

Hello all, I've got a room with a trapdoor that leads to the basement, trouble is the carpet's been layed over the trapdoor without having been cut so access has been blocked off. Would it be possible to cut the carpet and underlay then glue it to the top of the trapdoor, or is this...

How many kw does the Vaillant Ecotec 637 plus output to CH?

Ah, deary me, I got it mixed up and read the 837 spec like a dolt - been a long day. Yes I see the 637 spec now and you're right it does the full 37kw. Quite a beast of a boiler.

What to use behind fridge to keep it away from the wall?

I guess that would work, but it would probably damage the back of the fridge. Spoke to lg and they said put a rubber mat under the fridge and it won't move. I won't believe it until I see it.

What to use behind fridge to keep it away from the wall?

Hi, a bit of an odd question... I recently got an LG Side by Side fridge freezer and for the first time I've bought a f/f which doesn't have spacers at the back. It also has no brakes for the casters or feet which lower down to keep it in place. I need to leave 50mm minimum at the back...

CH/HW Install not commissioned, should I report?

Hello folks, we had ch/hw installed in a house in feb last year. The system was a vailant ecotec and a megaflo. The house is alot bigger than 150sqm but the installer never zoned any of it, just put trv's and a roomstat/timer. At the time I didn't know there was a rule meaning the house...

Easiest way to find the radiator flow "order"

Wow, long thread! Thank you all for your contributions. I was asked by the fellow who is going to do the balancing to experiment with the rads and see which one effects which other one so he can get a better idea of where to start and how the piping's been done. His method is to work...

Easiest way to find the radiator flow "order"

Hello all, sorry for the newbie question, but.. Is there an easy way for a slowpoke like me to find out the order of my radiators? I want to write up which one is first, second, third, etc in the piperun (I'm going to have someone balance them for me, but want to save him some time if...

    Receipts (supply and fit jobs)

Hello everyone. On supply and fit jobs (for instance supply and fit of an electric shower) is it reasonable for a customer to ask for the purchase receipt of the supplied appliance for warranty reasons and to make sure he's not being ripped off with second hand goods or such like?

How much inhibitor should I use plus what's a deaerator?

Sorry for being a thicko, but I have to ask; is the X200 preventative of limescale, as I've been reading the product literature and it seems to be a solution for systems that already have limescale built up. I think mine's fairly clean as it's only 10months old. Would I still be advised to...

How much inhibitor should I use plus what's a deaerator?

Ok, I've decided to forgo the deaerator as it won't de-knock my pipes and it's not a must have like the filter is. I was wondering, my gas safe man is going to flush and drain the system with something other than sentinel - will it still be ok to use sentinel after this? The flushing stuff...

How much inhibitor should I use plus what's a deaerator?

Thank you for replying. Never seen X200 before, might get a bottle (or should that be two?) though my boiler's not noisy my last one was really bad. I am in a hard water area - 17.1 d clarke. Would a de-aerator work in a closed system? I do have knocking pipes so would it stop that?

How much inhibitor should I use plus what's a deaerator?

Hello all, How much inhibitor would be needed for a house with 23 radiators. 4 of them are small (1200 ish btu), 1's a towel rail which I think would be 2000btu, there's another 2000-ish btu one, a plinth heater and the rest of the radiators are doubles with 2 column ones as well. It says...

Protect a table top with glass?

Ah thanks guys! That's a pretty elegant solution as I wasn't fond of doing anything permanent to the table. Thanks for the polished edge tip too :)[/i]

Protect a table top with glass?

Hello, not sure if I've posted this in the right section, it is wood related so I hope so. I'm going to buy a new table soon hopefully. The previous one we had is covered in fork tracks and dents left lovingly by kids, so I want to get the new table top protected. I've seen people use...

    Qualifications for fitting a magnaclean

Hello all, simple question(s)- If fitting a magnaclean retrospectively in a CH system where the HW is supplied via an unvented cylinder, does the fitter need to be unvented certified? Also, is there any reason not to get a magnaclean fitted at this time of year?

    Lagging my pipes

Thanks for the advice bryan. So would it be fine to lag the pipes all over - there's no rule that says not to lag them 1 meter from the boiler or tank? I'd not considered lagging the tank as it's unvented and quite a recent one. Would a jacket be of much use? I'm going to celotex the...
