Boiler firing with no call for heat.

I think that removing the link has sorted it and it was that simple. It's rather annoying that we had no fewer than 5 Vaillant engineers out last year and not one of them removed it.

Boiler firing with no call for heat.

I don't have a Vaillant cylinder. It's an old copper one with an ACL HTS2 stat.

Boiler firing with no call for heat.

Thanks DP. The cylinder stat is set to 60°C. D.004 always reports an actual cylinder temp of -99°C I guess that indicates that the boiler doesn't have a sensor for the cylinder. The Max DHW temp is set to 70°C which is the highest setting. IMG_2880 by dcb0 posted 29 Jan 2022 at 7:26 PM D.007...

Boiler firing with no call for heat.

Thanks dilalio I think that has sorted the problem. I've fixed the exposed conductors too - the wires for the boiler and cylinder were loose for testing when I took the photo.

Boiler firing with no call for heat.

Hello all. We have a Vaillant Ecotec plus 615 boiler. Our central heating system has an open tank in the attic and a hot water tank next to the boiler. There is a single three way motorised valve. My main concern is that the boiler regularly fires up even when there is no call for heat. As...

    Room Thermostat overriding controller.

Thanks St0rmer66. I was just wondering that too. I'd begun my previous post before measuring, and I hadn't seen what you'd written here. Even though the controller appears to be working fine (on the outside as it were), it looks like that's where the problem is. So it might be a case of...

    Room Thermostat overriding controller.

Thank you, I've checked these with a volt meter between the connection and the neutral. Here's what I found: Number 9, black wire is at 230v whether or not the CH is on at the controller. I guess that might mean that the Stat is wired in correctly and the problem is elsewhere. I...

    Room Thermostat overriding controller.

I made only a mental note of the order of the wires in the Stat (which certainly wasn't good enough). I would be happy to replace both the wire and the Stat. Thanks for the recommendation, I'll have a look for that. Is there a standard or convention for the colour of the wires? The...

    Room Thermostat overriding controller.

Hello, I've moved a four wire room thermostat and it now seems to override the controller for the system. That is to say that if the room thermostat is calling for heat then the heat comes on regardless of whether the Central Heating is on at the controller or not. The Thermostat is a four...

    lacquer over oilbased gloss?

Could you explain more about what you hope to do? The problem with painting a water based emulsion onto an existing glossy finish is that it might not stick well. We've used a waterbased gloss over lacquered (varnished) doors, and it's OK but rather fragile. If the doors are knocked, the...

    Any Woodworm experts out there?

This is an interesting link about woodworm. http://www.askjeff.co.uk/woodworm.html Here is a guide to identifying the various species of wood boring beetle. Treatment isn't always necessary, it can depend on the species. http://www.safeguardeurope.com/pdf_datasheets/woodworm_guide.pdf

Poor hot water pressure - dishwasher not working.

Thanks to everyone who took time to reply. I've just plumbed the dishwasher into the cold water supply and it's now working.

Poor hot water pressure - dishwasher not working.

Thank you Mathew for all of the points that you make about the reasons why dishwashers need a cold water supply. That's very helpful, as I see now that it isn't simply a question of whether it's cheaper to heat the water with gas or with electricity. I've noticed that dishwasher cycles are much...

Poor hot water pressure - dishwasher not working.

Yes it could well be due to the tap. Though it isn't a tap from Ikea, as far as I know. It could be, it's one that we were given, and have had stored for a while and just used now.

Poor hot water pressure - dishwasher not working.

Here are the photos that have been requested: The front of the boiler. It looks as though the boiler is a Vokera Mynute 20HE, if that's a model number. A clearer view of the pipes that come out from the bottom of the boiler. The pipe work under the sink.

Poor hot water pressure - dishwasher not working.

algas: That's very encouraging. I know that there is a little red plastic filter in the inlet to the dishwasher. I'll look for a restrictor too. I'll take better photos too. This is just a little "zoomed - in " bit of a photo of the kitchen which is why the quality is so poor. Thanks for...

Poor hot water pressure - dishwasher not working.

4 copper pipes, two large, and two small ones, and one plastic pipe which is connected to the waste water pipes. Sorry: I've not been using the correct terminology for the boiler. I thought that a combi boiler was simply one that provided hot water to taps and to the central heating system...

Poor hot water pressure - dishwasher not working.

Thanks for these ideas! Yes it is a condensing boiler. It supplies hot water for the taps and for the central heating. Yes the washing machine is old, and has both hot and cold fill. The dishwasher is new and I thought that it would be cheaper to run if it filled with hot water rather...

Poor hot water pressure - dishwasher not working.

Hello All, We've recently had a new bathroom suite and new kitchen installed. There were no changes to the water supply plumbing in the bathroom, but there were some changes in the kitchen in order to provide a hot water supply for both the dishwasher and the washing machine. The main...

Cutting beech worktop into two lengths to make upstands.

OK, That sounds straightforward. I took it to B&Q after the kitchen fitters recommended that I ask them to cut it on their wall-saw. They weren't allowed to cut anything that isn't at least 27cm wide, and couldn't have cut this even if they were allowed to. Anyone know a timber merchant in...
