    Shower/Combi pipework & pressure

Hi its a "Carre thermostatic surface mounted bar shower valve with rigid riser & integral diverter"! This is it: http://www.bristan.com/epages/Bristan.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/Bristan/Products/%22CR%20SHXDIVFF%20C%22 The shower is useable but I feel it should be a bit more powerful...

    Shower/Combi pipework & pressure

Hi its a Bristan mixer, cost about £200 (blurb said it was suitable for combis). Its all a new install but wondering whether the pipework needs tweaking around a bit. Thanks The shower is less than 5ft away from the boiler and mains entry so it could be very direct BTW

    Shower/Combi pipework & pressure

We have a decent thermo shower mixer and modern baxi combi in a single storey property. Water pressure is immense, taps are like water cannons on full blast. The shower is a bit feeble though. The pipework is tee'd off the bath/basin taps which themselves run from the kitchen. Is this a...

    A bit confused about showers

We have a bungalow with a Baxi Combi Instant 80 HE and are about to fit a shower to the bathroom. Mains pressure seems good, mains pipe has just been replaced. Got a few quick questions please... If we run a thermo mixer from the boiler, will the shower go truly feeble when water is used...

    Good quality bathroom kit?

Cheers that's really helpful. Is Carronite worth £150 over a regular Carron bath? Its not going to be for showering as there will be a separate shower. I assume a normal Carron bath is encapsulated & generally decent? Are Aqua Cabinets sink/units ok? Bit tricky to find one of those brand...

    Good quality bathroom kit?

Had a nightmare with the bathroom in the last house- porcelain chips, seizing shower doors, leaky taps etc. Same story with car parts recently. I've learnt my lesson and I'm trying to find decent stuff for the new bathroom. Which makes are decent these days for toilets/shower...

Baxi Solo 2 PF - how to reset?

Hi RCD tripped today and now the boiler won't work. I'm pretty sure there is a way to reset the boiler but I can't remember it and I've lost the manual! Does anyone know how to do it!? I think the boiler is ok, its usually very reliable. Thanks

    Rising damp does not exist

I've read the 'Myth' book (a good read even if you disgree with him) and a few of the usual textbooks. I'm open to the idea that RD can happen if the ground is very saturated and the mortar weakened old lime based stuff with equally soft bricks. Probably a very rare scenario. Has there been...

    Wood burning stove liner

I've had a gas fire removed and am thinking about putting in a wood burner.. The gas fire had a liner fitted which looks in good nick and not very dirty. I know these liners aren't tough enough to handle the heat from a stove. However, I measured it to be 7" wide, the stove should have a 5"...

    Re-using old driveway base?

There are a few lumpy bits of old cement that would make paving tricky, I guess I could smooth it out though. I'm thinking along the lines of ripping it up at the weekend and getting a quote for a sub-base to be put in. Then I can just stick some decent stones on the top myself. Probably the...

    Re-using old driveway base?

Thanks Had an idea. Lay slabs but with gravel around them- not in big enough spaces for it to slide about (also gravel that isn't that slidey). That would get around the slight bumpy/uneven base. To kango up the base, skip it & pay to get it done properly is depressing!

    Re-using old driveway base?

I took up the knackered old slabs from my drive and underneath is a nice solid concrete base. Its too bumpy to pave now but has no cracks, weeds etc. Being the tight git that I am, I'm wondering how to re-use the base to make a presentable drive on the cheap (getting ride of the concrete will be...

CH (old open system) re-fill, after removing rad?

 Orange alert, orange alert... Boiler seems to switch itself on and off every few minutes- no idea if its always done this as I've never taken any notice of the system until now! Only lived here just over a year as well (since escaping the village!). Hot water/heating are fine...

CH (old open system) re-fill, after removing rad?

Cheers for the advice... Did the above and the CH & HW have been running at full heat for a good 15mins now with no ill effects, fingers crossed! Before the boiler would clonk after a minute or two, overheat light would come on and then shut down. Think I'll let it heat the water before I...

CH (old open system) re-fill, after removing rad?

Thanks- seems to be working ok (lets water in when you push down). I tend to think it needs bleeding somewhere- maybe the pump?
