    Bullet roof leak. Felt over?

In truth, the house has had some movement since the build and so it's not surprising some of the roof boards may have moved up/down enough to create tiny gaps between them. That's where I feel a felt roof would've been more forgiving. I fear if I repair a few sections, other leaks will spring up...

    Bullet roof leak. Felt over?

We went for a rubber/bullet paint coated roof for our ground floor 6m extension flat roof. Builder was singing its praises. A year on, we are getting leaks in a few places. I took a look through a spot light hole and can see clearly that water is seeping through the joins in the boards. They've...

    Thermostats - ancient technology

Incredibly, thermostats that need have high voltages running through them are still a thing in the year 2023 (even for new builds). Has anyone come across a thermostat that behaves a bit like an alarm sensor output? I.e. runs of 12v DC and sends a simple on/off voltage (nominally 1v) to a GPIO...

    Loft radiator needs constant bleeding

Blimey  Thanks for the tips both, I'll obviously start of with yours JT

    Loft radiator needs constant bleeding

Correct. I never have to top up after venting unlike my old place. I'll have a look at the manuals. Cheers

    Loft radiator needs constant bleeding

The Wilo loops in and out of the tank. So no factor. Only that orange pump attached to the manifold I can see. Otger than the black and gold Valiant block, nothing else. Boiler pressure 2.0 bars but its on right now, I would say 1.5 when off from memory.

    Loft radiator needs constant bleeding

The "Last" radiator in the house is in the loft. It makes a near constant (I'm gonna say) "hammery" sound when the system is on. When I bleed it an extraodinary amount of air comes out (sometimes for 10-15 seconds) before I get water. Things settle down for a few minutes. Then literally 2...

Hikvision camera with Audio Out lead usage

I'm just going to wire in a small speaker from an old laptop and see how it goes!

Hikvision camera with Audio Out lead usage

Thank you! I simply want the sound I send from my phone to reach the person standing under the camera in the way that I can hear them.

Hikvision camera with Audio Out lead usage

I have this Hikvision dome camera (DS-2CD2566G2-IS) which I've already installed. It has a built in mic and an "Audio Out" lead (terminates with green female blocks). The guide does not explain how to use this lead and I've searched the web for a compatible speaker. No one seems to be selling a...

How to add rawlplug on brick after going through plasterboard?

The They look good, just too big (thick) for my precise shelf mounts. I can't find anything less than M10. No doubt will have other things to fix to the walls in the future. Will keep them in mind.

How to add rawlplug on brick after going through plasterboard?

Thank you chaps, I am hitting the brick after a massive 80mm, 8 flipping cm! it's obscene. Totally the wrong kind of boards for this task IMO. So naturally I need a screw which is going to go at least 40mm into the brick to provide any kind of security. 80mm of plaster board, foam and air +...

How to add rawlplug on brick after going through plasterboard?

How did you get on with this? My whole house was built like this. And not a word from the builder advising me how to mount anything to the wall even though he knows I'm doing it.

Drilling through plasterboard on top of thermoboard to get to brick wall

I think I've set my life up for hell. Builder has put thermoboards on every external facing wall in the house, on top of which is plasterboard, plaster. I'm in the process of installing shelves around the house. It's not straightforward at all. I need to drill what feels like almost 80mm before...

Measuring "average" temperature inside Hot Water Cylinder

Thanks for the suggestion. Mixergy seem to be on top of this. They've written this article which shares my thoughts entirely: https://www.mixergy.co.uk/news-and-insights/what-about-decarbonisation-of-water/ The industry needs to change in light of recent world events. A 20% reduction in energy...

Measuring "average" temperature inside Hot Water Cylinder

I guess I am trying to reinvent the wheel here but hear me out. Seems in the year 2022 we still have to second guess how much "hot" water is remaining in a hot water tank. Our family usage varies dramatically from day to day, some days we might as well stick the tank to permanently on (governed...
