Losing pressure, but no leak detected by gas tracer

While the boiler was off, the pressure went down to zero (very quickly), but nothing came out into the bowl.

Losing pressure, but no leak detected by gas tracer

I think it is unvented, yes - they have given me a quote to to the following work 're-pipe airing cupboard to include and auto air vent and to replace teh 2 port valve for a spring return type'. They had a devil of a job refilling the system with water after it had be drained due to the fact...

Losing pressure, but no leak detected by gas tracer

The pressure drop happened very suddenly. The heating had been fine for over 2 years, then one day, I noticed a gurgling in the rads, so bled them, repressurised and then within a 24 hour period, pressure was at zero. No visible water was coming out of the overflow pipe - or anywhere else for...

Losing pressure, but no leak detected by gas tracer

Brilliant - I will ask them to do that when they come out. I will let you know what happens but it may not be for a week or so as BG are liaising with Munters so that they can come at the same time - and I have no idea when that will be. Many thanks x

Losing pressure, but no leak detected by gas tracer

At the moment, the way that it's been left is that the leak detection specialists are coming back WITH BG engineers so that they can go through everything again and carry out another gas tracer test. If that doesn't work, I'm going to have to have the system re-piped as a next step - and even...

Losing pressure, but no leak detected by gas tracer

I am pretty positive that this has been done. I have to say that although nothing has been solved, the BG engineers have all tried really hard to get to the bottom of the problem. Also, I don't think they would have referred me on to other companies (Dynorod and Munters) unless they had...

Losing pressure, but no leak detected by gas tracer

on my paperwork, it says 'heat exchanger', and it was replaced on the recommendation of Polygon who found hot water running down the condensate pipe with their thermal imaging camera.

Losing pressure, but no leak detected by gas tracer

I have had 2 independent plumbers - the one who laid the pipes in the first place (the house is a 4 year-old barn conversion), and the second, i paid a sizeable sum to, and who is my brother's very experienced plumber who i called in in desperation. The rest have all been from BG including the...

Losing pressure, but no leak detected by gas tracer

I can answer that one straightaway! No, the copper pipe which lets the water out when pressure gets too high isn't leaking when the heating is on. If the pressure is set to 1.3 bar and the heating comes on, it may rise to 1.5 bar, but will soon start dropping again as the water disappears...

Losing pressure, but no leak detected by gas tracer

BG have replaced the heat exchanger, but within 5 hours, pressure was back down to zero (at which point I crumpled into a heap on the floor and cried!!) There is one thing which I have just found on this site though, and that's that the seals to the flue on this particular boiler (a Glow Worm...

Losing pressure, but no leak detected by gas tracer

About 6 months ago, our heating system started losing pressure and i was having to fill the system up about once a day. I called in BG, and they put a leak sealant into the system, to no great effect. Since then, I have had about 8 different plumbers in who have come to the conclusion there is a...
