    thanks for your tips :) In the end I used a good quality hacksaw with new blade for use on metals. How long to remove the amall section of pipe? An hour all together!! Slow or not bad? :oops:

    Thanks for your replies I'd probably only use it now and again, but would want it to to a nice job, no breaking the disc or not cutting properley! Is Bosch a good bet to cut a section out of a cast iron downpipe? It is quick?!

    Hello all, I'm looking to buy a decent angle grinder to use mainly to cut into a cast iron downpipe (65mm diameter) so I can fit a rainwater diverter kit. Any recommendations that can do the job quickly and easily for a reasonable price? Any makes to avoid? Thanks for your help

    I have the kit now and am going to do it this afternoon hopefully :) Would it be a lot easier to cut the cast iron downpipe with an angle grinder as my neighbour has one that I could borrow :) Thanks for your help :D

    Hello all, I am thinking of fitting a rainwater diverter from my downpipe to feed a water butt. THe downpipe from the hopper is cast iron. Is it a tricky job as I have never cut through cast iron before, but is says it is a DIY job. Thanks for reading my post :)

    yes I was thinking that, but then it's only when hot tap is turned off, not when it's running...

    Hello, I wonder if anyone could help me? My mother has a baxi comination boiler, about 3 years old apparantly. (AM not sure what model it is though). It works fine as supplies hot water, but she says when the hot tap is turned off, there is a knocking sound, not always but quite often...
