With help from you guys, managed to keep boiler working for as long as possible but now it's had it I'm getting a new one... Can people possibly point me in the right direction for your recommended boilers for the following situation, so i can narrow my search down before getting an installer...

Can anyone confirm, need to put in a 2 gang grid switch, can the white plates and grid frames attack to regular metal back boxes, or do they need to go on the grid system back boxes? cheers

The cable with the brown sheath is not likely to be a neutral, it is probably a swiitched live for the bathroom.... Usea multimeter to confirm.

Did the rcd only trip when you put up this new light? Sounds like it may be faulty, with the light disconnected, you can then test the fitting, neutral to earth.... If there is leakage it wud cause it to trip.... Doing its job!!

Too many variables not known to advise. Cable calculations required for volt drop etc.. Wat type of cable is to be used, Distance from where it's weirded from and to, how the cable is run, buried, clipped direct etc? Ambient temperature, are you on rewire able fuses? Ambient temperature...

Bit hard to read, try to put in paragraphs.... Maybe draw a pic in paint? How many cables come into switch? Do you have a cable that has 3 wires, not including the earth? , eg red yellow blue, or brown black grey? Just seeing how your 2way is wired. For other switchs it sounds like...

What you have drawn at the first switch, the blue wire is not a neutral, it's a switched live, it's just not been marked up with sleeping or brown tape.

Possibly a poor quality of plastic, or something foreign getting into the mix... We noticed upon a fault find one time that the plastic on some connector blocks were conducting slightly. Guessing a similar problem.

My ex was an architect, for quick pre-autocad designs she used a program called revit... Not sure if that will help.
