vaillant 838 ecotec heating restarts when hot water turns off

So weird one maybe. I have just been watching my boiler (I know its a slow day) and I set my flat for heat demand and my wife was in the kitchen. watching the start up sequence for heating and all is going well, then wife opens tap and hot water demand comes on screen. all good. she closed the...

    thermolite or brick

The current wall is full of blown bricks, fitting external insulation with mechanical fixings could be difficult. /hence the 2nd outer wall thoughts.

    thermolite or brick

I did read that they shouldn't be left exposed, so I will render with K-rend to waterproof them. Hope that answers the concerns from your linked post. my question is mainly about best thermal/sound. thanks

    thermolite or brick

hi, I have an external wall which is pretty rubbish (very old house) state. the wall isn't structural but the internals are finished and don't need any work. So my plan is to leave the existing wall rather then knock it down and rebuilt. There is room under the buildings overhang to simply...

Cold bridge with new Ali Patio Door

Hi, we probably had this issue before but we had old wooden patio doors which have now been replaced with 4 Aluminium Patio doors, 2 middle openers with 2 fixed panes. As its winter and we've had heating on, I noticed yesterday the whole bottom of the door set is dripping with water. I'm...

Patio slabs get very green and slippy

Someone did mention sealing the slabs, could that make a difference? I'll grab some patio magic and do them that way this time, see the difference. Jet washing was quite time consuming

Patio slabs get very green and slippy

Hi, I laid our yard with grey stone slabs a couple of years ago. And last year I had to jet wash the slabs as they went all green and became very slippy. The same thing has happened again this year. It starts to go green toward the winter, I'm guessing the extra rain and lack of sun light. Is...

    Sheet material usage app

hi, just wondering if anyone knows of an mobile phone app or windows software that can show you how best to use a sheet of material. For example if I wanted to make shelves of 600x800 and some at 300x200 and one at 1000x100 I'd like to be able to put that into a program and for it to tell me...

Can I build a floor on top of wall plate

yes the wall plate will eat into the room below, but its no problem at this time because we still have to stud out all brick walls and add insulation and plasterboard layers. so 2" of timber here isn't a problem.

Can I build a floor on top of wall plate

hi, so the guy i'm working with, who is more experienced than me, suggests we build the new floor ontop of the wall plates, whereas I would have used joist hangers on the wall plate to hang individual joists. I see his way would make the job a lot easier, and straight forward. but I wonder if...
