Fitting Duraboard/Laminated Board to uneven surface

The bonding sticks to the brick and the screws cannot come out the bonding when gone off. Plus you can level the window boards with a little tap. The window boards are 4m in my conservatory and are wood grain affect. There was no set pattern to the screws, I marked where the brickwork was, then...

Fitting Duraboard/Laminated Board to uneven surface

Put a rows of screws with about 10mm/15mm sticking out of the underneath of dura board. Then use bonding plaster to stick down on to dwarf wall. Then board as normal. This is how all my window boards are put down, no problem in conservatory with heat etc.

    Inward-opening window letting-in rain

Without a picture i would be guessing. All upvc window are made to allow water(rain) run through them. From the frame to the casements, the window frames will be concealed or face drained(plastic caps on outer frame, just above sill). With the weatherstrip fitted, it should stop some water. Is...

    Fitting Staybrite beadings

From a personal point, i use pledge to spray all locking mechanism's and hinges. I did use wd40/silicon spray but the smell around the house after use put me off.

    Fitting Staybrite beadings

You put top and bottom beads first, then the sides. Then put the white back rubber in, using soapy water, if you find hard to push back in. Take care not to force the glass if caught on packers!!!. Pack in opposite corners if catching on bottom or top.

Problems after fitting new window handles

When you say catching, whats catchimg. Locking mechanism or frame and lock. changing handle's should have made no difference. What style of opener is the window. Is it a top opener or side opener and you have pushed/pulled down on the handles. Gentle tap back up bottom of casement with a rubber...

How do you measure for uPVC Double Glazing

I would chop of the render and measure top, middle and bottom, then deduct 10 mm of the size in tightest place. Do the same measuring from head of the frame to the sill, same again deduct 10mm. Measure internal plaster in same way as outside. Bathrooms and kitchens worse place for this. Where...

Fixing a window - What is the most secure way of doing it?

You've not got many options because of how your house is built. Drilling on hammer or not makes little difference. when drilling there is a hole a lot bigger than the drill bit plus it will end up bent, twisted and the end glowing red lol. Vibration bouncing off the stones. You could try and...

Fixing a window - What is the most secure way of doing it?

There is no best way of fixing the frame, because the building is made up of small stone's. I would glaze and wedge frame into place and use fixing foam then remove wedges and foam where missing. Repair/patch render, sometimes the only places you will get a fixing is the head and cill. The only...

    Fake Georgian UPVC

It can be done but at a cost and a lot of hassle. First depends on the frames, how brittle the pvc has gone, gasket/seals/back rubber dried out. Glass size, somewhere to lay glasss flat. There's the glazing firm to re-seal the glass unit, new glazing spacer. There is is a cold pour way to...

window too big for open. cut sill?

Can you not lower the sandstone cill, 100mm is a lot to lose. One other solution is to take window back and get it cut down but that depends on openers etc and then get glass re made.

Duraflex frames have intrusive weld in the corners

Quote ”the supplier did show me that it can be sanded out somewhat and he used a blue fluid as well, but he said it wasn't done these days due to H+S.” Knifing the weld off takes seconds. Polishing the weld out takes about 10 mins per weld. More like saving time and money than H+S. I've spent...

    Heater control switch fault

Hi, I have a 04 Ford fusion 1.4 semi-auto petrol car. The heat control switch only works on 4 and the switch that allows you to choose between windscreen and dash blowers etc, does not change anything, just spins. So i got a second hand replacement and nothing has changed. Should i buy brand...
