Heater control switch fault

Hi, I have a 04 Ford fusion 1.4 semi-auto petrol car. The heat control switch only works on 4 and the switch that allows you to choose between windscreen and dash blowers etc, does not change anything, just spins. So i got a second hand replacement and nothing has changed. Should i buy brand new heater control switch or is the problem some thing else.

The blower only working on position 4 is typical of a faulty component called a resistor pack, an ebay search may show you the part but i couldnt tell you exactly where it is on the car (usually near the blower motor)
I cant help with the other fault sorry without seeing it but if it just spins as you say it sounds defective to me

Big thank you to ch427 for the advice about the risistor pack. Works a treat and must have had a loose connection because the windscreen/blowers etc also works. lol
