hi guys,
thanksf or the replies, I too was stumped when my lecturer didn't know it!? but i'm in no position to question his authority yet.
I thought the main reason might be that the shower pump could not handle the mains pressure at the suction side or the unvented cylinder might implode...
Hi all,
in my latest night class we were covering pumped shower systems and in the lecture one of my colleagues asked the lecturer why it was against the water regs to be able to hook up a shower pump directly onto the mains (ie not have a cold cistern and HW cylinder)
Lecturer came back...
Atag or Viessmann get my vote.
glow worm and potterton don't get my vote but thats from personal experience. Worcester is a good compromise between price and quality IMO
I think they are pulling a fast one. EU regs are pretty stringent when it comes to gas appliances, they will be pretested by the manufacturer anyway.

I can't see why vitodens 100 wouldn't work with a sealed system.
the only thing the boiler would see is increased pressure of the water and I'm sure its tested to more than 6 bar. Although it doesn't mention it in the manual.

I didn't understand how you could leave a boiler in a situation where it could blow up by incorrectly installing the flue?!? the flue just pushes on to the turret and I didn't see how you could do anythign wrong! :!: :?:
another tip worth mentioing is where you have a male/female thread such as when you change a washer on a stop cock, make sure you wrap the ptfe on clockwise. Otherwise as you tighten it will come off.

edit: fixed my slipup!
are you sure it has a permanent pilot?
I used to have one (it was cack), and when I stopped the gas and mains, I would just switch it back on and as soon as demand was requested the whole caboodle would come on together.
In fact I seem to recall it clicking which would suggest it may not...
what exactly do you mean by the inner part pushed in place fron the outside?
if its 60/100 or 80/125 flue, you are supposed to push the assembly out from inside and then seal it with the provided rubber/plastic flue seal covers. Unless vaillants instructions are different.
I went to an...
this is why plumbers get a bad name.
you should have phoned the police and explained to them and not paid your £8k - if thats correct :!:
hindsight is a wonderful thing. I would hot foot it down to your citizens advice bureau and then a solicitor.

PTS stock them.
As I'm working my way through my gas cert, I've come across a variety of boilers. I think personally ATAG and Viessmann are the best. The only decent boiler made in the UK is Keston.
Just my opinion.
its unusual for the pipe to burst along its length, its more likely to pop a solder joint.
the way I would look at it is, the pipework is in poor condition. If I don't flush it, it'll stay that way, if it leaks - well I tried!

if its a power shower, a normal plug feed will definitely be out of the question. You will need to get a dedicated cable from the fuse box/consumer unit to the shower. I would suggest you get 10mm^2 as this will cover pretty much any power shower you can buy.
I would suggest if you can that...
rolls-royce in terms of cars are purely bmw's
proper rolls-royces are jet engines and i believe these to be on a par with general electric!
anyhow I would vote viessmann, although my friend has an atag and i'd say that build quality was up there.
