    Identifying Trv valve

No sadly not. Anybody else have an idea on this one? I've been googling trv body images and just cannot find it. If only there was a catalogue of them. Anyway, if I can't work out which one it is then should I just get a whole new valve and head? I can get other heads that fit but I am...

    Radiator placement

Thanks to both. I am going to go with putting a large convection Stelrad type 22 or K3 on the 3.33m wall. There are french doors next to it so that should help with getting the convection going. The question is how large... 8000 BTU for the whole room estimated but the kitchen area doesn't...

    Radiator placement

Our vertical one is great if you stand next to it! I am looking at those boxed in skirting boards as a way of piping it round to that wall without have to disturb those floor tiles.

    Radiator placement

Thanks I need to investigate if can run through the floor. It's a 50s house and I think there are asbestos floor tiles underneath our current flooring.

    Radiator placement

I've just done the calcs and it appears I need about 8000 BTU. The existing column one I think is about 4000 BTU so I need about the same again, which I can fit in the proposed cuby hole area, just. I would prefer to go large on the radiator, as per your suggestion, and then just run the CH at a...

    Radiator placement

Hello all, I have an odd shaped kitchen diner, which a single vertical radiator fails to warm up so I am going to add a new type 22 radiator. We have a concrete floor so ideally we will locate the new one close to the old one. I've drawn a picture below but concerned that I am putting the new...

Attaching decking to house with ledger

Hi, I have a decking company putting some decking up outside the house. They are attaching one side to the house (brick house). They are using a ledger and have used wood spacers (25mm thick), basically some treated wood off cuts. From what I have seen, metal or plastic spacers are suggested...

    Identifying Trv valve

Hi, I’ve moved into a new house and two radiators have trv’s with no heads. The trv’s look different to those in the rest of the house. The existing heads are all from Tower. I tried getting the some drayton heads from screw fix but they don’t work very well. Please see photo

Ha ha! Starship trooper size. I’ll keep an eye, I’ve not heard any scratching about so hopefully they’ve gone now.

    Sink drain leak

Sorry I wasn’t clear it is leaking from the sealant where the metal attaches to the sink a bit higher up.

    Sink drain leak

Hi all, Pedistal sink with very small leak from sealant between where sink connects to drain. Would putting some silicone over the top seal it for a reasonable time? Or do I need to take it apart and redo?

Thanks all, I’ll hire the dehumidifier. I’ll try and drill some holes to get some air under the tray

I was trying to avoid that as my excess is £900 for water damage.

    Drying out after water leak

Thanks both. There’s also a large shower tray that I really don’t want to lift but I can’t see how the floor underneath would ever dry out if I don’t so I think I’ll get someone out to have a look - what are the names of the people who do this work? Water damage specialist? Flood restoration?

    Drying out after water leak

Drying up a downstairs bathroom after a water leak. The leak was from a plastic elbow that popped off so a lot of water must have come out but I couldn't see it pool anywhere. Its a 1950s house with suspended timber floors (I assume as has air bricks) so I am guessing the water found a way down...

    Gable end verge pointing

Hi, looking at a property and looking for roofers insight. The house was a bungalow that has had a 2nd floor put on 10 years ago. The verge pointing looks sort of ok on the front but poor on the back (see photos). How bad is it? The surveyor said 5k to remedy which I guess is mainly scaffolding...
