Blown air system to move woodburner heat around

Hi All, Firstly, thanks to all that contributed to my other thread, this is a great place to find information and build my understanding. Our problem is how to heat the downstairs and stop the kitchen from getting so cold. Ramble to follow... So to recap - we have a 210L thermal store...

CH pump from thermal store and blender position.

Ta, yes, I start reading and when I don't understand 10 things, my brain shuts off. It doesn't, but it also doesn't explicitly have a CH row, just an underfloor. On the same page What does: "This series of valves is not suitable for domestic hot water installations equipped with HWC"...

CH pump from thermal store and blender position.

Tony: Yes, I can see that would be a bad idea. Woodburner and I think the thermal store vents @ 80 - 90 (actually the solar vents when the bottom gets to 80 and I think the top is 85 or 90), so I can see the need for something. Thanks, do you have a link to the data sheet and / or docs on...

CH pump from thermal store and blender position.

Thanks for that. If the water in the Thermal Stores was top to bottom 80 deg C and the ch kicked in, surely you would need a blender to stop the water from being too hot for rads? That's me again. It actually showed additional rads in the bottom right that were not connected to the thermal...

CH pump from thermal store and blender position.

Hi, so modified pic from Gledhill catalogue - all rights are theirs and apology for bad updates: The purple box and the blue line are the bits I am talking about (i.e. the blender and its current position). The other line I have updated is that the stove cold (or return to the stove) is...

CH pump from thermal store and blender position.

I thought the idea was for the coldest flow of water to enter at the bottom to take as much energy from the tank as possible. I am pretty sure all my cooler pipes enter at the bottom (cold feed for how water), otherwise you end up with a more uniform temp, but lower than if allowed to "layer"...

CH pump from thermal store and blender position.

Ah, sorry, I should have been clearer. I had diagnosed this down to it definitely being the CH circuit. I can see my art work is confusing :-), drawn on my Galaxy Note. In actual fact this coil occupies a much narrower height, above the solar and below the hot water in and around the same...

CH pump from thermal store and blender position.

I understood all the words, but just not together :-). Potable = drinking water, I read from the spec that it is used in basin set up and another model is used in heating circuits. Will it be OK to use the same blender or should I get it replaced? The return loop: so inside the loop - see...

CH pump from thermal store and blender position.

Thanks to both. In terms of "3 port", it is a blender, i.e. I think they are designed to limit the outbound water temp by feeding in cooler water (there is a similar think on the water for the hot water taps) i.e. blend not on/off. I have got a pic of it and am looking it up now. ebasse...

CH pump from thermal store and blender position.

OK, no comments on the quality of the diagram :-). 1 = the pump 2 = blend valve pipes going off the the left = ch system. the blue arrows are the intended flow. This is how it has been plumbed. I don't know if blending valve are non-return. The coil is the coil in the thermal store...

    Changing Internet Provider

One bit of advice for people who use their ISP's e-mail, when you change ISP you are likely to lose your e-mail address and it is worth thinking about this earlier rather than later. So either use a gloabl e-mail provider (hotmail, gmail) Register a domain that isn't tied to your ISP (a few...

    Mynute 20e losing pressure

OK, a little less haste and I think your wise words would have been useful! Sort of at wits end, so just went ahead. So: Didn't isolate leccy :-) Did drain down system (still need to put a drain point on after 1st plumber removed the one by removing the rad from the circuit) Didn't...

    Mynute 20e losing pressure

OK, I think you may be onto something. This AM, when pressure guage said 0 bar, I checked the expansion pressure, it said 1 bar (Obviously I had set it a little higher than the 0.8 it was supposed to), then filled the circuit to 2 and then 2.9 bar and checked the expansion again and it still...

    Mynute 20e losing pressure

Hi, I set it to the manual figure for the 20e (.8 bar). The flow / return valve under the unit, do you use a screw driver to loosen the the screws and then turn the valve or is the screw the valve control? I was thinking of putting in a link where the rad was taken out, then if if the...

    Mynute 20e losing pressure

Just to add: I have collected water from the PRV, but don't think this is the problem it seems to me to be that the pressure increases to 3 bar which invokes the prv.

    Mynute 20e losing pressure

Hi, Original system was a pressurised feeding the radiators and hot water tank. Then... Plumber fitted thermal store, wood burner on top of existing gas system. Woodburner, open system attached to radiators and volume of thermal store. Boiler pressurised, flow and return into a coil in...
