Lighting a garage with no electricity

You're probably right and to be honest I think fitting two garage defenders could invite people to try and break in as they'll probably think I'm keeping the crown jewels in there or something! All I have in there is a huge, heavy squat rack that'd need to be taken apart to be moved so all...

Lighting a garage with no electricity

I went for 2 160 LED inspection lights in the end. 4.5 hours life and rechargeable - they do the job well! Now to find the best way to secure the garage... I've read a lot of reviews saying Garage Defenders can just be pried off the base with a crowbar. Currently has the lock on the handle...

Lighting a garage with no electricity

Thanks for the replies, those rechargeable fluorescent lights look like they could do the trick nicely but I will look into the solar panel option. So the solar panel would charge the leisure battery and that can power the LED lighting? Would you buy the solar panel and battery together already...

Lighting a garage with no electricity

Hey, I'm turning my garage into a home gym but it's in a small car park at the end of my road so there's no way I can run an electric cable to it so I need some way of lighting it without electricity. I'm thinking maybe some solar powered lamps or maybe something rechargeable that I can...

    Microbore pipe to valve connection?

Hi, Yesterday I was trying to take off an old bathroom radiator to replace and the olive broke off the pipe into the valve. The pipe is microbore (not sure if 8mm or 10mm) so I'm just wondering what I need to get to replace it as I'm completely new to this kind of thing. The space between...

Broken plastic thermostatic cartridge cap, options?

Aye but how does it actually come off? Seems properly fixed to the cartridge.

Broken plastic thermostatic cartridge cap, options?

Next question would be, how do I remove the existing temp control nut from the cartridge?

Broken plastic thermostatic cartridge cap, options?

Right, worked out I've got a Trevi Boost Built-in Shower Mixer. This is the cartridge... It's very expensive at £246.70 http://www.showerdoc.com/trevi-cartridge-boost-a963348 I just need this, right? http://www.showerdoc.com/trevi-therm-temperature-control-nut Thanks for reply.

Broken plastic thermostatic cartridge cap, options?

This probably belongs in the DIY disasters section but nonetheless... I was just descaling my thermostatic cartridge and as I was putting it all back on I managed (don't ask me how) to break the plastic cap off the end which caused the middle of the cartridge to pop-out and now I get cold...

    All radiators stone cold

You're my hero. The factory fitted link was the bit that was really confusing me and I wasn't sure where the put the yellow wire. Would it be ok to just clip the earth off short or do I definitely need to go and get some earth sleeving? Want to try get it in tonight but I guess I'd rather do...

    All radiators stone cold

Here is old thermostat (before I crossed the yellow and red wires): So it goes from left to right: Earth, Empty, Yellow, Blue, Red Slots are labelled: Earth Symbol, 2, 1, N, L. Here is the new one. It's a Horstmann HRFS1 wireless programmable stat: So... anyone up for doing me...

    All radiators stone cold

OK here's an update. Pump is working fine, however the three way valve is not opening for the CH when in auto mode. When I set it to manual, rads get heat. So I'm looking at the thermostat here... I took the front off and joined the red and yellow wires to override it and now the three...

    All radiators stone cold

I will check tonight. I did randomly attempt to bleed the radiator that I had put back on the wall again just to check there was water in there and there was so I'm pretty sure there's water in the system, the hot water just isn't getting to any of the rads. Another suggestion I've had is to...

    All radiators stone cold

Boiler is old and I know it's not a combi boiler but I couldn't give you anymore details off the top of my head. I could take a photo when I'm home from work tonight. As I'm at work, I can't check right now but I'm 90% sure the pipes are hot both sides of pump as I remember I couldn't touch...

    All radiators stone cold

Hi guys, I bought a house early January and as soon as I moved in, a double radiator was removed from the wall for plastering and I put it back on and bled it Friday night. I got heat as normal on Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday morning but when I came back Sunday night the rads were...

Cannot tighten 2 gang switch to wall

Hi guys, just a quick update. Squeezing the lugs with the grips and then rethreading them did the trick it would seem! I did test it with the 4mm screws and although they went through the holes in the swtich, the screw heads were too big and would stick out of the switch a little and look...

    Condensation & Mould in Flat

See, I don't have trickle vents but sleeping with window open solves the issue; I don't mind it. I'm going to keep an eye on this thread to see what other people suggest.

    Condensation & Mould in Flat

Sleeping with the window open would help. I find I get a lot of condensation when sleeping with the window closed, it's just whether the tenants would be happy to do this due to how cold it is at the moment! Do the windows have trickle vents?
