Thanks for your comment. I was trying to figure out where all the money goes and if there is any cost savings to be made. It sounds like there is not much unless we do it ourselves and save on the labour, but may end up with a lesser quality finished product! Home owning is not fun :(

Thanks for your comments! The quotations state scaffolding, ladders, plant hire as necessary so I am not sure if they will use scaffolding on a single storey job? Our budget is pretty tight so I assume changing to CF or doing it ourselves is the only option. Out of interest in the £1500...

I have a 4m x 3m single storey pitched roof extension (1980s) and I am looking to get it re-tiled as there are a number of broken tiles etc. I've had one quote at £1500 using reclaimed welsh slates and the other at £1850 using "natural slate to be decided" - no mention of Welsh or other...
