Hive with Ideal Logic+ Combi C30

There is nothing much to it as it just plugs in via a Molex and uses the OpenTherm wiring in my boiler. (I wish Hive was OT this would have been so simple) Sorry for the link - but this is the guide to the receiver...

Hive with Ideal Logic+ Combi C30

Picture 1 shows my current wiring, which is working as long as the Ideal wireless receiver remains connected. Picture 2 shows the Ideal wireless receiver Picture 3 shows the back of the wireless receiver - you can see the Molex connector that joins it to the PCB Picture 4 is a close up of the...

Fair enough - I will do this in the morning now when there is a bit more light. I haven't implemented what I have drawn yet but will do so and photograph. Cheers for all your assistance.

Hive with Ideal Logic+ Combi C30

So, based on what you have said, this is how I should be wiring the receiver. I'm confused why connection 1 in the receiver would not be used at all. This would leave 1, 2 & 4 in the receiver empty.

Hive with Ideal Logic+ Combi C30

I tried this, so removed the wire from 1 and put it in the live connection in the receiver. I removed the boilers own wireless receiver and powered it all back on...I was again unable to get the heating to come on from the Hive thermostat.....its very odd.

Hive with Ideal Logic+ Combi C30

Just to confirm, that would be putting the wire that is currently in 1 to the live port?

Hive with Ideal Logic+ Combi C30

Possibly? And this would be done inside the receiver? Which port would I bridge with live?

Hive with Ideal Logic+ Combi C30

So I have now got this working - but as suggested with the old receiver connected and the thermostat plugged in. I have had to put the old thermostat at maximum and the always-on for it all to work. Annoying that I will have to keep this hanging around and full of batteries...

Hive with Ideal Logic+ Combi C30

The problem is, the actual programmer part is built into the thermostat, so I can't just turn it on as the thermostat needs power, and therefore you have to set a temp etc. Does this make sense?

Thanks. The first picture shows the cables I have connected to the receiver. Second shows the Molex connector that went into the wireless programmer.

Hive with Ideal Logic+ Combi C30

Hi understood. So where exactly do I do this? Should I put the wire bridge back in at the boiler end, like in this photo? Or, do I bridge them on the white connector I disconnected from wireless receiver? If the former, obviously this photo does not show the wires connected to 1 & 3. In case...

Hive with Ideal Logic+ Combi C30

Hello DIYers I made a similar post a few days ago that didn't get any helpful information back. I though I would update where I have got to, rather than continue on with that one. I am aware that I should not be removing the cover of the boiler and accept all risks in doing so. That said, the...

Hive receiver install with Ideal Logic+ Combi C30 boiler

Hi I am just after some quick advice. I am removing a Nest thermostat and replacing it with a Hive one. The Nest is using OpenTherm which I know the Hive doesn't use. My current wiring can be viewed here In picture 2 you can see the OT connection - I am just going to remove this. In picture...
