Car Insurance. I expect mine is going to go up.

Thinking back the last time the insurance shot up because of a bump from a third party was when I was driving the missus’s car. That was a right fiasco. The guy who pulled in front of me leaving me with nowhere to go said he would pay for the damage. He changed his story later and claimed his...

    Blocking up a garage window

I was also trying to make it a bit warmer as possibly going to insulate it to make it more usable as the craft room. But this project is currently on the back burner. There’s always something else to do.

Car Insurance. I expect mine is going to go up.

I was recently involved in a crash in my company vehicle. I was in the black one coming up the hill when the driver in the other vehicle coming down the hill tried to turn left into a side street to evade the police who were following at some distance. As soon as they could the two male...

    Blocking up a garage window

Because I want a window on the other side of the garage overlooking my own garden instead of the neighbours. Probably going to make a craft/ hobby room in the back end of the garage. Not practical as a garage it’s too tight getting down the driveway nevermind getting out of the car if I could...

Tarmac path meets Zen Garden ideas.

Update: I think my best option is probably to repair the existing edge bit by bit. Shore up the kerb edging and progress slowly. I was fancying a metal edge between the tarmac and gravel. Cost and effort is going to be prohibitive. So I’ll try to make the best of what I have on site.

Tarmac path meets Zen Garden ideas.

We are going to make a Zen Garden in our back garden. There is currently a tarmac footpath alongside a lawn that is going to become the Zen Garden. So there will be white stones instead of the lawn but as you can hopefully see from the attached pictures I need to make repairs to the tarmac path...

    Fantastic idea.

I used to see a guy who had adopted a racing greyhound. I used to feel sorry for it because he was an older gentleman who walked very slowly. The dog kept looking at him as if to say “come on let’s get going”. So cruel.

    Fantastic idea.

Call it Cat. That’ll get it moving.

Buried armoured cable in garden. What could it be?

If it was a mains cable I might be more concerned. I did strike it with my spade when I was digging. I initially thought I was striking tree roots. If as more likely now it’s a telephone associated cable then I’m less worried about it. I’m going to put two fence posts in the area of the cable...

Buried armoured cable in garden. What could it be?

It depends how much I move the fence.

Buried armoured cable in garden. What could it be?

It could be argued that it is not actually in my garden. It is on the fence line. I think it’s going between two telegraph poles. The fence is at the rear of my property.

Buried armoured cable in garden. What could it be?

That might well be what is because it is heading towards the telegraph pole.

Buried armoured cable in garden. What could it be?

I figured that the armour would prevent any current being detected. The gas pipe in the house appears to be cast iron. The electrical cable inside the house is thicker than the mysterious cable too.

Buried armoured cable in garden. What could it be?

My non contact wand doesn’t show anything. It might look yellow in the photograph but I would call it dirty white/clear.

Buried armoured cable in garden. What could it be?

It looks like a cable to me. I can see the armoured wrapping beneath the plastic. It appears to come from under the road that runs alongside my garden. It’s an access road into the primary school next door.

Buried armoured cable in garden. What could it be?

It could be a mains cable. The house and garden has been here 67 years so I assume it’s been here since before that. I’ll photograph it later.

Buried armoured cable in garden. What could it be?

I have found a buried armoured cable in the garden. I was digging a hole for a new fence pole when I came across it. There’s nothing near by as far as I can see that it could be feeding. There’s a telegraph pole about 30 feet away but I don’t think it’s anything to do with that. It’s only about...

    Blocking up a garage window

My bathroom also has a similar window. One window in the bathroom on the inside. Outside there are two windows that belong to the bathroom.

    Blocking up a garage window

I’ll probably just block up and insulate the inside after I’ve repaired the leaking roof that a “tradesman” replaced a couple of years ago. I can hardly go back to him now to get it fixed can I?
