Lost all zones when changing PIR

Thank you, always worth checking with the experts. New fuse restored the system. Second question. If I can find a new like-for-like keypad, does disconnecting the old one likely to cause any issues after powering down?

Lost all zones when changing PIR

Hey folks, Any advice gratefully received... Hall & landing newly decorated, old hall PIR replaced with new, successfully. Removing the landing one I think there may be a chance the red & black power supply wires touched when removing, the wires to this detector were incredibly short and...

    Honeywell PIR not triggering

Edit! Pet immunity now turned off. Should have been my first port of call. Makes a world of difference!

    Honeywell PIR not triggering

Thanks. As per my post, reaching the door with wiring would be tricky unless unsightly trunking was used, there is also a very low RSJ above the door and no room on the frame for a contact from what I can see, hence the PIR. The installation was done by the original installer of the system, I...

    Honeywell PIR not triggering

Hi folks, We had a utility room built extending the house which meant an additional front door. The door is uPVC and the alarm system is a hard wired Honeywell Accenta Mini. Wiring a door contact to the new door would have proven tricky so a PIR was installed in lieu of, and the utility room is...

Accenta Mini inhibit? Zone not triggering

Thanks for this! Must have skipped past in the engineer's manual but now found. Looks like the zone had indeed been disabled when the window was boarded up and plastered. Now fixed. Thank you.

Accenta Mini inhibit? Zone not triggering

Hi folks, I'm sure this is a nice easy one for the engineers and those who know this panel well. Zone 7 on my system used to be a shock sensor on a single glazed pantry window. We've since had a wrap round extension built a couple of years ago, the window plastered over and the sensor removed...

GSM Dialler for a household alarm

Alig301, How did you get on with the GJD gsm system, or anybody else for that matter? Still struggling to find a reliable and properly recommend GSM dialler, as I am told time and time again they are a thing of the past. However for simple functionally, whereby a big panel upgrade to Comms/app...

Cost of upgrading panel with app control..

Had a brief chat with an alarm fitter about adding a GSM dialler to my panel after having no joy with a GSM activate module. He commented that they weren't very reliable and that the CSL Digi air was a better system. Any thoughts on these? Additionally, he suggested that swapping out the...

GSM activate auto dialler... trying to get to work

Thanks tfc, but seems a bit daft buying a second basic system to run alongside a proper hard wired alarm that covers the whole house. I just wanted to wire in a basic sim module instead of forking out for a new WiFi/app control panel. I’ve concluded the communicator must be in-op, perhaps due...

GSM activate auto dialler... trying to get to work

Thanks for all your replies. Yes the SIM card works. I have forwarded a photo of the unit to technical dept at gsm-activate who inform me it’s a very old unit likely to have gone faulty. Suggested a new 4G unit to future proof against 2 and 3G no looker operating. Are there any other suggestions...

Yes. No luck with the reset text message either - have just tried. I can only presume it's faulty. Thanks for everybody's input.

GSM activate auto dialler... trying to get to work

Thanks. I have the same manual on pdf but no joy. It does not respond to my texts despite correct set up etc. Are there any trade only GSM diallers that are still commonly used in new installs? Doesn't seem many on the open market now that WiFi and apps are the done thing.

GSM activate auto dialler... trying to get to work

Thanks for the reply. How have you managed to ascertain it's a 2G only model? The SIM in it is Asda mobile which uses the Vodafone network.

GSM activate auto dialler... trying to get to work

If anybody has experience of these communicators made by these people and a way of identifying the model I’d be grateful. I cannot get mine to operate despite the setup appearing correct. I bought a unit secondhand a while ago off eBay from a decommissioned intruder alarm, stated to be tested...

How much for a professional hard-wired alarm, 5 zones?

As per title. There is a non-functioning alarm system currently installed at my address. There is existing wiring in place running to the bell box and wiring in place running to just one PIR on the landing. Old control panel still in situ with lots of wires coming out disappearing under the...

Professional alarm installation advice & prices...

Thanks for the feedback. Would you believe I'm struggling to find an installer who's willing to entertain the idea of a wired system! Does anybody have experience of 'Prime' (was ESP) wireless systems as proposed by my second installer?

Professional alarm installation advice & prices...

Hi, Yes the company is approved by the above bodies and I'm happy with the standard if equipment he has proposed. I'm just looking for a general consensus of the price and the whole wireless thing (judging by previous posts, people's opinions appear very mixed).
