    Laminate vapour barrier?

    i’m putting laminate flooring down in my kitchen on top of ceramic tiles which are on a concrete floor (about 15 year old flooring). Using wood fibre underlay and the instructions say a concrete floor needs a vapour barrier. Do I need to do that with the tiles in place?

    Turn off washing machine valve

    how do I turn off this valve? It’s for the washing machine which I need to move while I fit new flooring, don’t want to turn off the mains as it may take more than one day. Pliers wouldn’t grip the nut, it feels hand tight, also looks a bit like it’s missing a handle. Thanks

    None of the fuses have a cooker label, just sockets and lights. The gas oven is just plugged in to what I would call an ordinary socket! There's no oven off/on switch above it like i had in my last house for the electric oven.

    One of the Ikea ovens says "Minimum fuse needed: 13A", does that just need an ordinary cable? I'd get a gas hob if that makes any difference.

    I want to replace my gas oven with an electric one so it will need a new cable run through to replace the ordinary one. The fuse box is at the other end of the house and i don't have an attic space as there are neighbours above me. Presumably this means taking some floorboards up? I have no...

    Mortar around wooden windows

    I need to repair the "mortar" around my windows on the outside, between the sandstone walls and the wooden window frames as some of it has fallen off from the top edge. I think fixing it will be fine but i don't know what product to buy, what do i look for and will it be available in a DIY...
