    Boiler tactics for ERP 2015

We are a flat in the middle of a development. 3rd floor, surrounded on all sides but one (windows and balcony side). So I guess we are a shared flue of some kind and maybe there are permission issues with the leaseholders about re-routing to external walls for individual flats? Re getting...

    Boiler tactics for ERP 2015

This sounds right but I'm only going on what my gas fitter told me. All I know is that we can't have a gas combi for some reason and that after erp 2015 we will only be able to have electric.

    Boiler tactics for ERP 2015

Hi, erp 2015 is coming up 26th Sept and the legislation means that if (when?!) my current heat only boiler and water tank set up (an old Thorn) goes pop we will not be able to fit a new gas boiler due to the flue and will be forced to go electric. We cannot get a gas combi due to the flue. So...

Atag A325EC or Intergas Combi Compact HRE 36/30 ?

Yes it was nothing scientific. I just took a 1litre jug and timed how long it took to fill! Results will therefore I guess be mostly meaningless but here goes: Hot tap only on full: 2 sec=30l/min of water too hot to touch- I think this is more than the stats for this boiler says. 5 sec...

Atag A325EC or Intergas Combi Compact HRE 36/30 ?

The hot water of the Atag is great. We have 4 bar water pressure and I can turn the hot tap to its fullest and it will produce a very strong flow water that is too hot to touch! Our shower is also a good pressure. I'll test two outlets for you asap and let you know but the hot flow is so...

    Drayton RT212 TRV opinions/alternatives

Well the honeywell ones seem quieter. The hissing seemed to be the cheaper basc danfoss 212's. Shame about the annoying ugly green button on the honeywells!

Noisy hissing radiators hissing noise in new rads or trv's

It seems a lot better now we swopped to honeywell trv's. There are still a few trickling noises but no/much less hissing.

    Drayton RT212 TRV opinions/alternatives

Hi, I have another thread here (//www.diynot.com/diy/threads/noisy-hissing-radiators-hissing-noise-in-new-rads-or-trvs.420484/#3265881) which explains why Im asking. I'm not trying to be greedy or selfish starting new threads but I thought this new thread with its title would be a better...

Noisy hissing radiators hissing noise in new rads or trv's

Hi John, no it doesn't stop if you turn it higher. It makes the noise until it is up to heat anf only stops if the rad stops, if the rad is continuing to be hot the noise remains.

Noisy hissing radiators hissing noise in new rads or trv's

Twgas: thanks. I will ask my installer about this. JohnD: if the trv is turned so that the radiator shuts down then the noise stops yes. So it makes noise when rad is "on" but not "off". I've asked the installer to try another brand of trv. He says on he will do but he used Drayton RT212...

Noisy hissing radiators hissing noise in new rads or trv's

Hi, I've done a search and read some around the subject but unsure how to proceed. We've just had a new boiler and new rads fitted (except one in the bedroom which was already newly fitted within the year). The new rads, especially a vertical one in lounge and towel rail in bathroom all make...

Atag A325EC or Intergas Combi Compact HRE 36/30 ?

Great. I went with atag in the end. Tough to choose but heard Intergas doesn't like hard water and liked the idea of extra hot water flow and included heat recovery in the A325ECX

Atag A325EC or Intergas Combi Compact HRE 36/30 ?

I asked them how they get their "default values" and this was the reply: passed me your enquiry about the significance of the term ‘default value’ in the context of hot water energy efficiency in the PCDB. The PCDB exists primarily to provide information for SAP assessors rather than as a...

Atag A325EC or Intergas Combi Compact HRE 36/30 ?

well yes I would trust the SEDBUK to be impartial but they said they used "default values" god knows what they are or where they got them but they seem unlikely to be correct.

    Question re Intergas/Atmos Combi

Well however long it takes with a combi son't it take longer if you run out of Hot Water and have to reheat your tank? How long does it take to reheat an average HW tank? TBH though I think my choice to switch to a combi has been dictated by my wife and space considerations and I just have to...

Atag A325EC or Intergas Combi Compact HRE 36/30 ?

I came to the conclusion I came to as they stated that "a default value was used" which would suggest that it was not the correct one or even a properly calculated one. Also both Atag and Igas said their dhw efficiency was much higher than that value and they we're going to look into correcting...

    Question re Intergas/Atmos Combi

The reason we want a combi is that we have a small 2 bed bungalow and want the space that the hot water cylinder takes up (especially my wife) in the (tiny) second bedroom. Also it will be nice not to have hot water running out on us eg half way through filing a bath etc. Also it seems mad to...

    Question re Intergas/Atmos Combi

So....all in all I'm favouring the ATAG at the moment but I'd welcome your thoughts on this. The only other dilemma I can think of is balancing good hot water flow with min CH output as I don't want the boiler to be constantly short-cycling. The A325ECX modulates CH output down to 6.1kW...is...

Atag A325EC or Intergas Combi Compact HRE 36/30 ?

Re-reading the start of this thread it seems the initial dilemma was that Igas seemed to have a poor HW score on sedbuk. Since this has now been found to be false (ATAG also had a poor score which was false) and the Igas and ATAG seem to be more evenly matched efficiency-wise which is the one to...
