    Central heating refill... panic!

Well its finally refilled! Took me about 7 hours of chasing air around the system, but its finally there. switching the pump on and off every 30mins seemed to get things moving. So is it possible that a system can take that long to fill, or am I likely to have an underlying problem...

    Central heating refill... panic!

There is certainly a lot of air movement, but when I bleed the rads I am just getting massss of air, no water. If I so fill the system what do I need to be wary of? Can I cause damage/flooding?

    Central heating refill... panic!

What is the F&E tank? Im kind of learning this as I go... I can only find one motorised valve, this is set to manual. Rightly or wrongly (prob very wrongly!) I switched the CH on after about an hour. The boiler kicked in abd the pump is working. Lots of air movement now and getting loads...

    Central heating refill... panic!

I decided to drain my CH system and fill the header tank with F5 in the hope of clearing some of the crap that would have built up over the years on an old, neglected system. I followed the instructions from this site for the drain down. Opened all rad valves Shut off the supply to the...

Replacing Potterton controller with Honywell ST9400C

Sounds simple enough! You mentioned placing the remaining wires like for like, you do realise that there is nothing connected to terminal 1 right? I assume this is fine and terminals 1 and 2 are just used to break the circuit?

Honeywell DT90E thermostat setting up help needed

I have this stat on an oil boiler and its making the boiler kick in very often, even when it reaches the desired temperature. What are the ideal settings for the oil boiler? And, what does cycle rate and on/off time actually mean?

Honeywell DT90E stat with an oil boiler

Hi all, I have recently replaced my old Honeywell room stat with the digital Honeywell DT90E to control my oil boiler. On the plus side, i have now realised that my old stat was very inacurate... on the negative side, I get the feeling I will end up using much more oil with the new stat...

    Central heating start-up delay

Great stuff, thanks for the replies. I will have a look at the valve spindle and then decide what needs changing... hope this works, those Honeywell valves are £50 a pop!

    Central heating start-up delay

Did this get resolved? Turns out i have the same issue. I switch my HW on and the boiler fires up instantly. Turn off the HW and switch the CH on and there is around a 15 min delay, it then kicks in and works fine. When the room stat reaches temperature and clicks the heating off... and...
