did it not long ago, and was done again a couple of weeks ago when this problem was noticed.

    Freezer temperature stuck very low

We thought it was but apparently not. We have had to defrost quite a few times over the years we've had it. And it's not by any heat source and has plenty of ventilation around it, as it stands alone without any surrounding cupboards.

    Freezer temperature stuck very low

Looks like there are two compressors. Not American style - freezer below, fridge above.

    Freezer temperature stuck very low

Hi, We have a AEG Santo 3534 KG fridge/freezer, which we've had quite some time (just looked at the information and we bought it in 1996!!), and has been operating well until recently. It's even survived three house moves. The fridge and freezer have separate on/off and temperature...

    Another new house problem

Yes, I think I mentioned that in my second post, in a roundabout sort of way. I think that would be a good idea.

    Another new house problem

It must have a timer adjustment, as they said that we could have the time changed if we want. Not sure where it is, though, in order to do it ourselves. It would probably take them six months to come and sort it, as happened with the shower screen, which has only just been sorted after eight...

    Another new house problem

That's a good idea. Looks like we'll be keeping you busy if you come to do the security light!!

    Another new house problem

Yes, the fan comes on with the light, but we don't always want the fan to come on, for instance, when brushing teeth. I would like to be able to turn it off to save hearing the droning noise unnecessarily and to possibly save electricity, if indeed the fans use much, as they do continue for some...

Looks very interesting, thanks for that.

    Another new house problem

Thanks for the info. I will have to accept the position of the switches, then. When I got home last night I had to switch on the fan, as my husband had been putting up a corner shelf in the shower. I just managed to reach the very bottom of the switch, on tip-toe, with the very tip of my...

    New house problem

I'm not so sure that the builders would have thought to make such a consideration when installing this light. It seems to have been a case of "install it as quickly and cheaply as possible and run". Hopefully it won't be an issue, if they agree to remove it. Then we'll get topsparks in to fit...

    New house problem

Yes, there are two lighting circuit switches, one for downstairs and one for upstairs. Presumably it's the upstairs one, despite the fact that we have two upstairs, as it's three storey!

    New house problem

Must have been posting at the same time. I mean the consumer unit, or RCB is it called? I'm not very educated in these electrical terms, as you can probably tell. Anyway, it doesn't have a switch for the light in there.

    New house problem

Thanks for all your replies. I thought I would wait till I got home before posting again, so that I could check whether there was an isolation switch on the junction box. We can't see anything anywhere that appears to be connected with the security light. We are not aware that there are any...

    New house problem

Topsparks, that's very good to know. Thanks for that. Hopefully we can get it removed and have something more useful put in the proper place.

    New house problem

Thanks for your swift reply. That's what I thought. I just need to find some evidence to give to them to prove my point.

    Another new house problem

Further to my first post on the security light issue, I thought I would ask your opinion on a problem with isolator switches for extractor fans. In our new house we have four WCs, all with extractor fans. Two I can reach OK, but the two on the top floor (a bathroom and an ensuite) I cannot...

    New house problem

Does an outside security light have to have a separate switch, like a normal light switch, or can it be wired in without, with presumably the only way of isolating it at the junction box? We have one on the wall of our new house and we were told that we could have had a switch if we'd asked...
