Update... Two engineers worked on it today for 9 hours including getting it back to how it was, outcome is no heating for second night. They have one more chance then I'll be insisting they get Br G*s in to put everything back as it was. They're at a loss to know what the first guy did...

This is for a conventional system. The heating thermostat is in the hall and was previously one of those traditional rotary ones, it was replaced a couple of years ago, when a new boiler was installed, with the Siemens. I want to put the receiver (the bit without the display) in the hall...
