    New Boiler - 8000/35 or CDI36

So they are both roughly the same in size, but the 8000 has a 1:10 modulation vs 1:6 on the CDI. They are both the right power for my flow, house size etc. The thing that has me thrown off, is the the 36CDI is older, proven, smaller and more powerful 13% on the hot water. Normally you pay more...

    New Boiler - 8000/35 or CDI36

Hi, I’m looking for some advice from professional plumbers on what boiler to choose for my house. I live in a terraced house with two bathrooms and four bedrooms. I have very good water pressure and flow. I currently have a 17-year-old faulty Worcester Bosch 25si which is probably underpowered...

Smart Home Switches - Amp Ratings

No way my LED's will overload the circuit, but from a regs perspective don't you have to stick a fuse in if the rating of the appliance/wiring is lower than the breaker? I think the breaker is way overdue for being changed to a lower rating anyhow, previous owners were running some fans, TV...

Smart Home Switches - Amp Ratings

Hi, I am going to be installing some smart-home switches for lights. Many are available but there is a common theme even across premium brands like Shelly switches: 1. Single light relay switches are rated at 16 amp 2. Double light relay switches are rated at 10 amps per channel One of my...

Smart Light Switches - Wago Box?

Thanks for the info - and quick access is a consideration but not always practical and the cost of replacing 50 LED downlights with smart versions isnt realistic. So really right now my consideration is ensuring electrical safety and reg compliance - the switch will be relatively accessible from...

Smart Light Switches - Wago Box?

Going to be installing some smart switches. For some of my light circuits it is going to be easier to connect them in the ceiling attached to the 'master' downlight which has the switch attached to it. Right now my downlights all have quick connectors attached to them, which has no room for a...

Removing Plastic Side Panel to insulate

Ok - so you think just be more aggressive with a tool and pull these off? I had a go with a screwdrive but they seemed very stuck. I am gussing that if I put more pressure on it I may very well snap the UPCV. Thanks for the heads up on the insulation point. The floor boards are very open (hence...

Removing Plastic Side Panel to insulate

Hi all, I have a piece of white Plastic panelling on the side of my house between the lower floor and balcony. I have a real draft coming up from the floorboards on the second floor and draft from the spotlights in the ground floor and suspect that there is no insulation behind this plastic...

    Shed bifold doors

Thinking this through, I think I will make two large doors first and then cut them through afterwards. If I use three cross supports, I can cut 1, add a hinge, then the next and so on until all the hinges are in place and the bi-fold just works.

    Shed bifold doors

Good idea, but I will likely also be storing some long stretches of wood on the ceiling, so the posts would just get in the way I think.

    Shed bifold doors

Hi all, Hoping for some advice on my project...I seem to have brain freeze from the cold weather and cannot make a decision on approach for building some bi-fold doors for my new shed. I am building some bi-fold doors for this structure: The reason for the bi-fold doors as that the...

Wood Stains & Protection - Larch

Hi, I am building and installing a new modern slatted wooden fence and cladding 2 small sheds in my garden. I have ordered the wood (Larch) as it met my criteria of cost/quality. Before I install it I want to tint the wood with a more amber colour and apply protection. The query I have is what...

Flat roof balcony - what system to use?

Hi all, I have a balcony as part of my house and I want to get the waterproofing changed as it is starting to show signs of wear and because I want to refurbish it generally. Many tradesman seem to prefer one method vs another, and for obvious reasons push that method on the phone as the 'best...

Balcony/Flat Room Replacement & Tiling How to?

Ok sounds like a plan. The tiles my neighbour has laid are regular porcelain tiles, like bathroom tiles which from my experience are not that strong. Do you normally lay something stronger but cheap underneath if you want this effect to give more strength?

Balcony/Flat Room Replacement & Tiling How to?

That makes sense. In the photos I provided, they have a small gutter and then tiles going right to the edge (like an infinity pool) of the balcony. I cant see how you do that with the rubber supports? The other question I have, is that my house is 3 stories high. If I every need to do some work...
