Ethernet cables through ceiling & joists or cavity wall

Yes, the HDMI TXs/RXs I'm looking to buy have integrated IR and transmit it through the CAT6 cable. PS4 is Bluetooth and only has to go through lathe & plaster ceiling so I'm sure it'll reach. I'm ruling out wireless and powerline adapters as they're simply not as fast and reliable as cable.

Ethernet cables through ceiling & joists or cavity wall

It's for being able to use Sky, PC and PlayStation 4 in multiple locations. I want it all in a AV cabinet and be able to use it throughout the house.

Ethernet cables through ceiling & joists or cavity wall

Hello, I wasn't sure how to categorise this question so feel free to move it into more suitable sub-forum. I'm looking for some advice. I'd like to route some (7-8) CAT6 Ethernet cables from downstairs living room (router) to the upstairs bedrooms. Most of the cables will be used for...

Combi boiler - do I need an appliance switch?

The kitchen is an extension to the house so the layout around it used to be different. My guess is the switch in the kitchen was there first as it looks really old. Very old fashioned and badly yellowed. The switch upstairs is new and it looks like it was fitted with the boiler ~1 year ago...

Combi boiler - do I need an appliance switch?

There are 2 switches. Where the boiler is wired into the system there is a fused spur switch which is switched. That switch sits with the boiler in the bathroom cupboard. In the kitchen there's another switch which looks just like a regular light switch (except for the additional neon light)...

Combi boiler - do I need an appliance switch?

Hello, We bought a house and in the kitchen, right next to the kitchen ceiling light switch there's an appliance switch (20A neon type) controlling the combi boiler installed upstairs in the bathroom. It's very confusing having 2 switches for 2 completely different things right next to each...

    Central Heating Thermostat Replacement

Hello, Could I use your infinite wisdom, please? I currently have an old analogue SUNVIC TLM 2253 Thermostat ( https://www.uk420.com/boards/uploads/monthly_09_2008/post-26762-1221828293.jpg ) which to operate uses two wires (red - live and blue - neutral). I wanted to replace it with a...

    High gas bills after moving

I checked the meter and it does go static when everything's switched off. I haven't smelled any gas either which tells me there aren't any leaks. I was going to sort the thermostat out, but never got round to it. I wasn't being stingy, I simply didn't realize that this setup would cause...

    High gas bills after moving

Hello, We moved into our current house in November 2013. Since then, we've been getting high gas bills. E-ON says we use 85% more gas than similar homes. The last bill for 23 days using actual start and end readings shows that we used 2003 kWh worth of gas (179 m³) which cost £95. That's...

    Thermostat Replacement

Hello, I'm looking to replace an old analogue central heating thermostat with a digital one. I was wondering if somebody more experienced would help me with the wiring? Where would the wires from the old one go into the new one? I've researched it for a couple of hours and have a rough...
