leaking service valve - vaillant vcw 282

Thanks for checking that, part now on order. If I don't have enough vertical movement to replace it and need to cut the pipes, I presume it's ok to use compression couplings to rejoin? I don't fancy learning to solder them when the gas pipe is only 2 inches above it...

leaking service valve - vaillant vcw 282

Cheers everyone, that 306705 looks a different shape, but I guess it would be if it's an alternative part? I should be able to get some vertical movement in the flow pipe, depending on how much we're talking about :?. I've just replaced a leaking plastic DHW heat exchanger, which is what...

leaking service valve - vaillant vcw 282

cheers mickyg, The part number I have from the manual for the whole connection group is 9313, but i couldn't find it for sale anywhere. And if a single valve is 40 quid, i'd imagine the connection group would be pushing on 200? Does anyone know the size of pipe from the boiler into this...

leaking service valve - vaillant vcw 282

Thanks guys, but I don't think that's the right part :?: . That looks like a right-angled connector from any pictures I can find of it, and it's a straight connector I need, 3/4 bsp at the bottom end and whatever size at the boiler end.

leaking service valve - vaillant vcw 282

Hi, The service valve on the CH flow of my vaillant vcw 282 boiler is leaking from around the quarter-turn screw. I can't seem to find a part number in the manual I have - does anyone know if these are available as spare parts, or if I can replace it with a standard isolation valve? If it is...

    Vaillant VCW 242 pressure loss

Thanks guys, and ChrisR, re-pressurised the expansion vessel and it seems to be working much better now - a lot quieter as well. However, noticed another small problem when testing after re-pressurising and re-filling the system. There is a round black fitting in the middle of the boiler...

    Vaillant VCW 242 pressure loss

Hi, having some trouble with my Vaillant VCW 242 EH losing pressure in the CH part, needing topped up about once a week at the moment. I top it up to about 1.5 bar, then the CH runs and the pressure goes up to the max while the CH is running. Once the CH stops and the system cools down the...

Another question about flooring a loft... (rolls eyes)

This is exactly right, at least in my local - completely illogical that 4 x single boards works out cheaper than a pack of 4. Note however that if you have a Focus near you, they are doing the packs of 4 for £25, but they are on BOGOF so that works out a bit cheaper again.

Widen builders opening in chimney breast

Thanks Noseall, No structural damage at all - the front of the breast was actually only holding pretty much it's own weight for a single skin of brick, the flue being tied in to the back wall all the way up. You weren't joking about needing to be robust with the electric hammer - The bricks...

    loft and underfloor insulation

Hi, Currently have a part-boarded loft in a 1950s semi with between 25 and 100mm of old glass fibre between the joists. Under the boarded area (22 sqm) there is 25-50mm insulation, 50mm airgap then chipboard panels. The unboarded area (19 sqm) has between 50 and 100mm. I'm thinking it's...

Widen builders opening in chimney breast

Thanks Noseall, you could well be right about the boiler. When I removed the crap that was infill behind the gas fire (which sat in front of the chimney breast) there was a copper boiler for a coal fire still in place. The ends of the pipes can be seen in the bottom left, and the opening where...

Widen builders opening in chimney breast

I have had an old gas fire removed and chopped out the surround, superimposed hearth and old fireback with a view to getting a wood burning stove fitted. The stove installer was surprised to find that the existing opening is only about 500mm wide, and said I'd need to widen the opening by...

Overboard or plaster to fix this?

Hi, Currently redecorating the spare bedroom. Removed some 'cardboard' lining paper in what used to be the airing cupboard to find it had been used to hide a pretty bad wall  . The cupboard was built onto the chimney breast (no longer used for an open fire) and appears to have had a...
