    Accenta G3 and power cuts

Hooray!!!! It has worked. With the correct fuse installed, the alarm has recharged the battery. The battery kicks in in the event of a power failure and we no longer have the alarm sounding during a power cut. Thank you SO much to everyone who has contributed their time and knowledge in...

Yes, that is what I meant by "a more serious problem".

    Accenta G3 and power cuts

New fuse was under rated and blew straight away. I now have a correctly rated new fuse. I shall leave it in for 24 hrs and see if the battery has charged up. If not, and the fuse is ok I replace battery. If correctly rated fuse has blown it would indicate to me a more serious problem.

Didn't make any difference. I will check new fuse and replace battery after Easter break.

    Accenta G3 and power cuts

Fuse was dead, battery was flat. New fuse and original battery re-instated. I'll give it 24hrs, then I'll cut the power myself. If the battery isn't knackered by being drained it should have re-charged enough to cut in and I should hear no alarm. If I hear alarm, to Maplins I shall go on...

I've just removed the fuse and it "looks" ok. But I will get it tested tomorrow and let you know the result. Cheers.

    Accenta G3 and power cuts

I've removed the battery. It's Y2.8-12 12v 2.8Ah C20 It was fitted on 25/01/13 therefore has lasted less than 15 months. This seems to fit in with the pattern of battery life according to the service history. Before I shell out on another one, I would value any relevant comments...

    Accenta G3 and power cuts

It's the insanely loud noise in the wee small hours that I and surrounding neighbours can't cope with! It's more that I don't need an alarm, than I can't cope with it. I didn't have it installed. We inherited it with the house, along with a service history but no instructions. Having never had...

    Accenta G3 and power cuts

Thanks Tony. I have located a large box in another part of the house, I assume that this is where the battery is located. It has an isolator fusebox below it. The alarm box cover is held on with a single star headed screw. If I remove the cover to access the battery, will the alarm sound?

    Accenta G3 and power cuts

Thanks guys. Fortunately for me it was the previous owners who had to pay for the new battery each year or so. I have never dealt with the alarm company myself, and shall not do so. I still need battery type and location confirmed in case I go ahead, but I like Tony's method of...

    Accenta G3 and power cuts

Is the link SNM gave the correct battery? It's £31! It is also far too big to fit in control panel which is less than 1" thick. Looking at the service history (alarm 7 yrs old, we've been here a year) the batteries don't last longer than 15 months anyway. This will be the fifth replacement...

    Accenta G3 and power cuts

Is that a nope to recharging, neutralising or both? I seriously can not afford to have this thing disturb my neighbours again before I get a chance to replace the battery. (Now looking like being Tuesday afternoon). There must be a way of taking it down temporarily?

    Accenta G3 and power cuts

Europlex & TonyW2 Are you referring to the control panel when you talk about replacement battery location? If the battery is rechargeable, can I re-charge it rather than replace it? I am about to embark on three long working days, then a weekend away, is there any way I can neutralise...

    Accenta G3 and power cuts

Help please! When ever there is a power cut, (I have had two in last 4 days) my Accenta G3 alarm sounds off really loudly, because there is no power the keypad is dead. I have to wait for the power to come back on to silence it. As the most recent occasion was in the wee small hours several...
