Someone smashed into the passenger side mirror leaving the housing broken but all pieces left trapped by the insides. The mirror itself is unbroken and the electrics all work OK. Can anyone recommend a suitable adhesive to bond the housing back together please?

My Honda Accord has a label riveted to the nearside chassis underneath the bonnet. It clearly specifies the engine number but not the VIN. There are two identifiers ; one is "ell*93/81*0024*00" and the other is "SHHCE86700UO11753". Is one of these the VIN? If not, where may I find it please?

The lamp is controlled by a separate on/off switch. The entire hood is protected with a 5A fuse in the connection unit so current is not going to exceed that. Voltage is normal household 220AC. The switch I've been considering is specified as:- AC440V 10A 4 Position 2Pole Universal Rotary...

For the moment I've left the switch on medium setting and we control on/off by switching the connector box (where flex meets up with cabling).

Sorry, I don't know. I'd have take it all apart again to try to identify what the connection layout is. I haven't been able to find a wiring diagram anywhere. I simply don't have time to take it to pieces again just at the moment.

Well, at the first position the fan is off. 2nd position: the contacts connect to the low speed coil of the fan motor. 3rd position: the low speed contacts are broken and the 3rd contacts connect to the medium speed coil of the fan motor. 4th position: the medium speed contacts are broken...

It has Off and 3 x 2-pole connections which control the speed of the fan.

Explain why please?

"Normal switches"? However you do it you still need a 2 pole, 4 position, BBM switch! May as well mount it on the canopy if you can find a suitable one :)

Well, the switch isn't broken as I said earlier. It's the plastic mechanism. Much as I appreciate your helfulness, I'd have to unmount it and take it apart again to do that. Last resort, I think, if I can't find an alternative solution. To be honest, I don't think it's repairable since...

Something like this is what I had in mind. The hood has been reassembled with the speed set at medium. I'll have to take it apart again if you want me to photograph the inside.

Yes, sorry I didn't give more info. It's a Hotpoint hood and, yes, the speed does need 2-pole switching. The switch itself is fine: it's the flimsy plastic assembly that connects it to the front panel lever that's fallen apart. I've tried to think of a way of mounting the switch on the side...

As monkeh says, it's in the US and the cost of getting it is outrageously expensive.
