Would it tripmit immediately? As I said, it takes about 20 mins.

    Something is tripping the board.

We have an outdoors double socket linked to an isolator for the hot tub. If I turn everything on, the electrics stay on for about 20 mins, then the rcb shuts off. If I turn the hot tub off with the isolator, the rcb stays on. We have had this set up for years, but a few months ago, we did...

    Odd stripes

Just re painted this wall and noticed these patches. Almost like there was tape or something under the original paint. What is it and will it go if I add enough coats of paint?

    T4 and t5

I have 2 x l4 florescent tubes under cabinets. I want to add a 3rd light. Can I add a t5? Is there a lead that goes from t4 to t5? If not, I may change all to t5. Do you think inside the box which is at the beginning, is a stripped down t4 lead wired in? If so, all I would need to do is cut...

    Braces

Yes, it's a 12 year old.roof and I have been in from new. Looked to me that they were put in as a temp fix for some reason, 1 screw each side and just not removed after.

    Braces

Hi, I have these 2 horizontal braces that I could do with removing. Presumably, when you buy the trusses, they are calculated to support the way they are built and these braces just look like the builders added them. They are just screwed in. I am going to board that part of the attic, anyone...

Replace dial thermostat with portable one.

Thanks everyone. So this is what I have next to the water tank. It controls the water tank hot water and the upstairs rads. I only have 1 thermostat upstairs and that is the one in this thread. I assume that stat has a wire coming into this controller. If that's right, and I swapped this out...

I was just thinking the same. Might crack it open and see what we are dealing with

Replace dial thermostat with portable one.

So it getting power every now and then when the program comes on wouldn't be enough?

Replace dial thermostat with portable one.

So that stat is on the wall outside of where the water tank is and the programmable timer that sets the time for the hot water tank and the rads. Presumably, those wires only get a signal when the program is set to come on?

Replace dial thermostat with portable one.

If all the rooms get to the temp we want in our bedroom, that wouldn't be an issue. Here is a pic of the wiring behind the stat.

Replace dial thermostat with portable one.

Basically, we have a big house and now everyone else has flown the coop. We need the heating solely based around us in our bedroom.

Replace dial thermostat with portable one.

I have a honeywell dial thermostat on the landing. It controls the whole upstairs. House built 11 years ago. We need the thermostat in our bedroom, the easiest way I thought was to replace the dial stat with a portable one that I can put in our bedroom. I looked online and the closest to what...

    What colour

The tiles are cut there because the whole wall was done and needed the right cuts at the plug points

    What colour

Some of the Cuts left bigger gaps, do you think clear might not hide it that well?

    What colour

Hi, just had these tiles installed and the backsplash is a speckled black. What colour silicone should I use, black or light grey to match the tiles?

    Wiring a plug socket

A few years back, I removed a socket. Can't recall if it had a purpose or what it was, but hid the individual wires behind some tiles. A few months later, I noticed a socket which is further along the wall stopped working. Interesting, another socket further along still works. Anyway. I am...
