    I found that tip as well. Threw the stat on the floor and it worked. Tested it and I had continuity again! It also loosened the disc on the front of the stat, so as I already had the replacement I fitted the new one. Didn't want to risk fluff getting inside it and burning the place down. Ha ha...

    Bootlace Ferrules

    I'd say they're essential for stranded cable, but the only regs I know of that refer to them actually forbid them on solid cores. The ATEX Regs for hazardous areas. Not DIY I know, but they're the most stringent regulations regarding terminations.

    Thanks Rocks. I'd found another post on here saying that the existing high temp stat has a spot on the back, so changed that for the 150. All up and running again for £5 parts on eBay. Thanks again.

    Bootlace Ferrules

    Just something to be aware of, if you are using ferrules, they should only be on stranded wires, not solid cores as in twin & earth I imagine it would be due to overheating where the ferrule may not be fully touching the core all the way round.

    Hello, I bought replacement stats for my hotpoint tvm570, but can't work out which is which. The existing ones have a code and the replacement ones have a temperature rating. 120c & 150c. The wiring has a pair of orange wires to one stat and a blue & blue with a black to the other. Any help...
