    Shorten pendant light wire

Hello all - thank you for responses in advance. I have a standard hanging pendant light which I need to shorten so that the light clears the door. Would I be okay to store the excess wire in the rose, or should i really be shortening the wire? For avoidance of doubt, the electrics will be off...

Happy new year all! Currently trying to resolve a leaky toilet cistern means water keep trickling down the pan Taking the lid off, I can see that the water is going through the overflow pipe. I just can’t work out what / how to adjust. Pictures attached. Note that there is a small blue switch...

Dimplex Quantum QM150 Storage Heater Off-Peak Electric Supply Wiring Help

Many thanks all! Replies are very comforting that this second, more senior and experienced installer knows a bit more than the first! I was tempted to just tell them to surface mount the wire from one end of the property to the other to avoid any further faff, but it seems that their...

Dimplex Quantum QM150 Storage Heater Off-Peak Electric Supply Wiring Help

Hello all - hope everybody is having a grand weekend so far! So I've just had the installers leave (2 of them this time, one who was obviously much more competent and experienced that the chap who attempted to install the heater twice with not much luck). What they have now suggested, is that...

Dimplex Quantum QM150 Storage Heater Off-Peak Electric Supply Wiring Help

Thanks Doggit - I think the night element is actually between 3000W and 3300W (unless I'm mistaken?). Do I also need to change the switches at the on-peak end (which runs the boost and internal heater timer etc.) to 20A DP too?

Dimplex Quantum QM150 Storage Heater Off-Peak Electric Supply Wiring Help

Thanks again Echo! One final point - I think the other 2 storage heaters are connected via a 13A fused spur (to the off peak circuit of course). I assume that you would recommend that these are changed to 20A DP switches?

Dimplex Quantum QM150 Storage Heater Off-Peak Electric Supply Wiring Help

Many thanks for your advice so far. Very much appreciated. I've been exchanging emails with the installer all day, so I thought I would provide an update. They have been very apologetic, and the last email I received said the following: "Can you tell me what series your heater is please...

Dimplex Quantum QM150 Storage Heater Off-Peak Electric Supply Wiring Help

Many thanks for your reply Echo - confirms my doubts so will get onto writing a fairly stroppy email to the installers today. In terms of concealing the wire, I have plasterboard walls but have recently had the whole place done up so don't want to ruin all of that. As such, it may be a wall...

Ariston WRC-NSF tank is not heating water properly

All, Many thanks for your help on all of this stuff. Very much appreciated! I however now have another problem. My Ariston WRC-NSF tank is not heating water properly (the overflow leak issue was sorted out by Homeserve, and turned out to be the T&P valve). When I switch the top...

    Electric Heater Installation Advice

Yep correct I will want them on when I need them - get your point. Do you therefore think that it will definitely be cheaper to switch to a standard tariff? The heaters have built in thermostats and run-back timers so I will be able to control each room independently. Before we go on, I...

    Electric Heater Installation Advice

Hi ban-all-sheds, Yes - this is correct. The old storage heaters looked like they were the originals from when the flat had been built in 2002 - horrible looking, massive and made a lot of noise when on. Having done some research, I decided to go for the panel heaters for 2 main reasons...

    Electric Heater Installation Advice

Thanks EFL Impudence - Now that I have installed panel heaters I assume that standard fused spurs should be ok and that I don't need the 20A switches?

Hello All! Before I start, I want to thank you all for your help in advance! I have recently been refurbishing my flat and decided to replace the storage heaters whilst the builders were in. I opted to replace my old and bulky storage heating solution with some panel headers from the Adax...
