Fire rated glass alternative - could Acrylic/Polycarbonate sheet (class 1 or 3???) be used?

Hi I had a loft conversion and to meet building regs I need to separate my stairs on the ground floor which is open plan. To maintain the open plan feel I was looking to use FD30 fire rated glass to separate it which is obviously very expensive. It got my thinking could I potentially use Acrylic...

Is it acceptable for a rubber roof to have ripples?

'Next door' is actually still my property is just a new build extension on an existing extension. The bit closet on the photo is a re-roof and the far bit is the new build. Thanks all for the comments. I have contacted the builder to see what he proposes.

Is it acceptable for a rubber roof to have ripples?

Hi Had a new rubber roof fitted and the builders that did it have left it as per the attached picture. Is this acceptable or should I be asking for them to redo it? I presume if so they would need to lift it and re glue? It looks pretty bad obviously and seems to be effecting drainage. I presume...

Loft conversion and Open plan - avoiding fire door and wall downstairs?

Thanks all for advice. I got a quote today for a mist system, he said the basic system would be c£1500-£2k but my layout would be closer to £4k due to number of jets needed. Does that align with what others have seen? I have read sprinkler systems are even more expensive. At the sort of cost...

(from a safety point of view I have the ability to escape from...

Loft conversion and Open plan - avoiding fire door and wall downstairs?

I meant all the first floor windows, not the 2nd floor that way those in the loft could escape through the first floor. I guess sprinklers are a very expensive option.

House as at 1948 for permitted development?

Hi I recently purchased a house (1930's built) that was extended, but I presume extended a long time. I am looking to extend further however the PD rules states that as the house stood in 1948. If I can include the extension then my work is fine under PD if not then I may need to go through the...
