Gate post fixings to stone wall

My son needs to attach 10cm posts to a wall. His problem is that the wall is sandstone and he is afraid that something like 'Hammer Fixings' or 'Concrete Bolts' might not hold firmly. If he uses either of these fixings, what sort of length would he need? Unless there is a better way of doing it...

    Ceramic hob wiring

We have just received a Siemens Ceramic Hob. Unable to get a 'proper' lucky. The original wiring is the 'normal' three wires. Having taken the cover off the ceramic hob wiring connection I find five terminals. There is an engraved diagram to the left which is marked 1N, 2N and 3N. Terminals 4...

How to fit duct for Cooker hood extractor

Slight problem, I would like to get 115mm ducting but the most common size I have seen is 100mm. Does anyone think it would be a problem going from 115mm at the cooker hood end to 100mm which would then (via a 90 degree elbow) go out to the outside vent.

How to fit duct for Cooker hood extractor

We have bought a Cooker Hood with facility for outside extraction. The 'plumber' has drilled a 115mm hole in the wall which is about 2m away from the hood. I can get 115mm flexible hose but is it OK to just push that through the hole in the wall and connect it to an outside vent? Another...

    Outdoor socket advice

If you had seen the work a supposedly qualified electrician did on my house you would probably die of apoplexy. I don't trust them

    Outdoor socket advice

I have one of these http://www.screwfix.com/p/bg-nexus-13a-2g-dp-switched-socket/67928 and was going to use 2.5 T&E cable. The cable will be coming out through a wall and I intend to use the bottom entry point. My question(s) are: Is it better to use T&E or normal round 13A cable? Should I use...
