    Stop very slow leak...

I know, I know!! To be fair Tipper did say to try LS-X and bin the PTFE, I used PTFE originally but that didn't seal either. *hangs head in shame* Anyway I'm redoing the leaking joints with new olives and PTFE tomorrow. BUT I looked for some 22mm and 15mm copper olives but couldn't find...

    Stop very slow leak...

So..stage one of fix. I bought some LS-X, took apart and inspected the leaky joints. I removed all the PTFE tape from both joints. - The bottom right brass olive was covered in places with a brown hard rust like substance so I gently used some wire wool to remove it until shiny again...

    Stop very slow leak...

Morning! I've got 2 tiny leaks in my new pipework at the points arrowed. Top left - New compression fitting on 4 inch bit of 22mm pipe to a flexi hose. Used 5/6 wraps of PTFE on top of olive. No drips on the floor overnight but I can see a bead of water under the nut. Bottom...

New combi = No more shower curtain + Waterproof walls

Excellent! Many, many thanks for taking the time to read and post. Over the past few days I've come to more or less the same conclusions, it's just good for someone to confirm some of my findings. - Side wall of shower and toilet are both against external wall so no soundproofing needed...

    Battens for Aquapanel

Hi All, Ok it's not exactly tiling but it's preparation for it I guess... I'm doing a shower renovation and had a few questions about the battens needed for installing Aquapanel. * What size battens should go on the side wall, I'm thinking 50 by 25 (1x2) as I don't need to hide anything...

    Moving electric shower, cable extension

A minefield I see, I thought as much! OK...the cable currently comes through from above the kitchen cupboards and vertically down behind the tiles to the shower. - I guess I'll cut off the cable in the kitchen where it currently goes into the wall - The existing cable on the shower side...

    Battens for boarding

Morning, I'm doing a shower renovation and had a few questions about battens behind the boards. * What size battens should go on the side wall, I'm thinking 50 by 25 (1x2) as I don't need to hide anything there, but 50x50 (2x2) at the end of the bath. Is this enough to route the pipes up...

    Moving electric shower, cable extension

Hi all, I need to move my existing electric shower about a foot to the right as I'm having a wider bath fitted and it's currently in the way of where the screen will sit. I'll need to connect about a foot of cable and the join will be behind tiled Aquapanel. The shower will only be used if...

New combi = No more shower curtain + Waterproof walls

Morning, Bath and panels, screen, waste, rain shower, mixer, taps, shower mounting bracket all bought, there's no turning back now! OK, I'm going to batten and plasterboard the side wall as it's not exactly flat, and the same at the end of the bath - no chasing to hide the pipes, moving...

New combi = No more shower curtain + Waterproof walls

Yep, I tiled that bathroom in mosaics about 7 years ago and it wasn't a pleasant experience. A good point regarding discolouration, I don't really want to deal with re-grouting if I don't have to, it'll happen quickly in my place anyway due to humidity/cold. I think I'll go with something...

New combi = No more shower curtain + Waterproof walls

Thanks, I'm always a bit nervous coming into forums like these with only a thimbleful of knowledge. I'll add some more photos as I progress...probably combined with a lot of exclamation marks and angry emoticons I hasten to add.

New combi = No more shower curtain + Waterproof walls

Thanks for the comments! Isolation valves - Good point, I'll isolate each pipe up the mixer, the missus will go mental if I have to turn off the water completely because a balls up on my part! Soldering - 100% agreed. This would be my preferred way of doing things but firstly I don't have...

New combi = No more shower curtain + Waterproof walls

Thanks, in that case I'll be using plastic pipe and compression fittings for the feeds to the mixer. What's the best way to tap into the existing valves under the bath? At the moment there's just a 22mm flexihose up to the bath taps, shown on the pic. I guess I'll put a reducing T below the...

New combi = No more shower curtain + Waterproof walls

Morning all, I'm after some guidance, mainly about tanking, but here's where I am. I have a circular shower rail/curtain and an electric shower (gravity fed heating system) but since a new Combi was fitted the pressure has shot up and I now want to redo the shower above the bath. Here's...
