    Ban left-hand-drive trucks?

Back on topic, I remember watching one of those TONIGHT documentaries earlier in the year where the reporters discovered that many foreign driver were made to work 24-48 hours at a time by their "foreign" employers and paid pitance for doing so . Is it a wonder that so many drivers from some...

    Ban left-hand-drive trucks?

Hey-up now. Here comes Johnboy with his middle-england Politically correct clap-trap. Save it for Joe90 and Bob Dole Johnboy because I really aren't that interested. As for the list of accidents (which you have obviously spent a lot of time trawling the internet for which is very sad in...

    Ban left-hand-drive trucks?

You obviously dont use the motorways as much as some of us then. I use this part of the M6 almost on a daily basis and I have lost count of the number of times that I have been forced to veer into the inside fast lane to avoid weaving and/or overtaking left-hand drive HGV's. Something really...

****** - doncha just love 'em?

I drove past a ***** wedding a couple of weekends ago and it was like driving through an Anne Summers convention. All the way down the street outside the church there were brand new work vans of every make you can think of. Most of them were parked on double yellows and there was a parking...

    Over or underground?

Is this yet another architect with yet another lame brain idea just trying to put himself on the map I wonder? (I've met a few of them in my career) If it was to be built just imagine how slowly the thing would have to rotate to stop people inside from falling over or feeling travel sick etc...

What type of glass should I ask for...

It's a pretty standard unit make-up for sound insulation. It's what I would normally recommend for homes that sit on top of railway lines and very busy roads etc. Most of todays new UPVC windows have 70mm profile with a 28mm glazing rebate. Using the above unit make-up will only give...

Fitting a yale onto a UPVC door??

The most vulnerable part of any UPVC door is the panel. One good kick and the thing will pop out. If security bothers you I'd replace the lot with a good quality solid hardwood door and hardwood outerframe. Then you can add as many different locks/bolts as you like.

    What PVR

The HUMAX 9200T is supposed to be the best money can buy and it is a nice looking bit of kit but personally I dont have a spare £180.00 Instead I bought the Digihome DTR160 for £94.99 from Argos. A bargain for a 160 gig PVR with Twin Tuner. It is actually re-branded under different makes...

    BAXI 80 - strange problem

Sorry blokes! It's a BAXI 80HE instant combi-boiler. The instant hot water type. When it cut off the pressure on the gauge read about 1.5 - 2 bar which to my mind is about normal. It definately didn't lose pressure or anything like that. Here's the baby...

    BAXI 80 - strange problem

We have a 3 year old BAXI 80 Combi-boiler which last night for some strange reason decided it wasn’t going to provide us with any hot water or central heating. On the boiler display panel all of the temperature lights were off but the “water tap” display light was flashing constantly...

    fitting a cat flap

Yes. If it's a UPVC panel then just cut your hole out of it. (Take the panel out of the door first) If it's a glass panel then you'll need to have a new D/G unit made with the correct sized hole. There is usually a template that is supplied with the cat-flap which you'll need to give to...

advice about a problem from a proffesional window install

Without seeing the job it is impossible to say if they are at fault or not. To be fair you say they sent someone out straight away to take a look and neither of you could see any obvious cause for the leak as far as the window installation is concerned. Is the brick in question loose? It...

I should hope so for £12,000. A bungalow you say? May I ask what make of window you've had fitted? Did you explain this problem to the window company before they fitted the windows or like many others did you just assume that double glazing will stop the noise? You could change the glass...
