    GRP Roof Help Please

The same resins and topcoats that go into your GRP Roof (albeit slightly adapted) have been used in the marine industry for over 40 years to make boats, yachts and lots of other things that float, so to have water on a GRP Roof, while not ideal is not usually an issue if the roof and the system...

Please help bad GRP which has cost £7000!!

Some questions; Q1. Roughly how big is the roof? Q2. Did the roofers say they were trained to apply Cure-it or indeed any GRP system? Q3. Can or did they provide a training certificate? Q4. Did they offer you a guarantee? Q5. Did you pay them all the money?

    Fibreglass roof nightmare!

Either 1 layer of 600gm or 2 layers of 450gm never any more layers than that or you will get thermal expansion issues, perhaps maybe a surface tissue for a smoother finish. Get some more quotes in from local roofers (at least 3) they will come in and do a survey to let you know what needs to...

    Fibreglass roof nightmare!

Well, that looks like a whole new kind of messed up and makes me angry just to look at it. From the pictures, it looks like they top-coated the trims but didn't do the rest, just put another layer of fibreglass on top of the roof? God only knows what's under that. And the whole solar panel thing...

    Fibreglass roof leak!

Epoxy? o_O That would be total overkill for something like this and you would still need to purchase the topcoat to match the existing finish. You can get a GRP roof repair kit that includes the glass, polyester resin, catalyst and topcoat (to match the roof) for under £50.

    Fibreglass roof leak!

Is it possible to upload a side-on view and another corner of the roof for comparison? Do you have a guarantee for the roof? Depending on how they've been trained fibreglass roofers will more than likely not use pre-formed corners instead they will make them on-site with resin and glass and...

GRP Roofing in Bad weather Area

You can apply a layer of resin to the boards but you could also go one step further and apply the first layer of the system including glass fibre to the OSB boards if you wanted to which would just leave fibreglassing the seams and adding the topcoat, at one point in time there were companies...

Help! GRP roof is bubbling 6 months on?

Strange one o_O could be a contamination of something, either with the catalyst or the topcoat, strange it's in one spot which may point to a problem with a particular mix or something landing on the topcoat when curing, not sure. The topcoat layer is to protect the main glass fibre laminate...

    GRP / EPDM or other

You could look into using a fibre reinforced polyurethane liquid applied system, which would be applied in roughly the same way as a traditional GRP roof using a 225gm mat instead of 450 or 600gm. Polyurethane systems are really easy to apply and incredibly flexible so you wouldn't have any...

    fibre glass flat roof cracking

I know you said fibreglass roofing in the title but is this the standard GRP roofing or something else (do you have a product name?), and is this a white or light grey finish it's hard to tell with the light, reason I ask is you don't see a lot of white GRP roofs kicking around. If it's a...

    Noise from GRP flat roof

Cracking and banging noises that come from a GRP roof are 99% of the time down to poor installation, either from a contractor buying cheap crappy products that are not fit for the roof or not allowing for expansion and contraction, or just not having a clue. Roofing merchants should be ashamed...

    Fibreglass price guide

Oh yes!! you can buy some real cheap and nasty stuff!. If they make tanks, and water features they could be using the same general purpose GRP resin system which can be used on roofs but won't necessarily have been fire tested or won't have the added flexibility, to enable it to expand and...

    Fibreglass price guide

Without seeing the roof £152 per square metre does seem high for a 15 square metres. Do you know what GRP roofing system they are using on the roof? are they trained and approved with a specific system or do they just buy the cheap stuff from a builders merchants? Do they offer a guarantee and...

Fibreglass roof how to tell its a good job?

They used ply instead of OSB 3 and didn't tape the seams which looks like corner cutting, also they should have done all the laminating work early in the morning to avoid the heat. Did they give you a guarantee for the materials or the workmanship?
