Hi,
has anyone used the Overcoat system from https://www.overcoating.co.uk
Curious as to how good it really is, given how easy it sounds to apply. Have heard bad things about both Flexitec and other ways of re-covering a flaky grp roof.

Thanks in advance

Thanks,
attached are a few pics.
There is a leak, im fairly sure that it is from a specific crack.
The roof was initially laid, and after a year developed a leak - I went up and saw some pin holing. Sanded it back and re-did a top coat of Cure-it.
I've spoken to a rep at Overcoat, they seem to know their stuff. He told me the best thing to do is sand off any flaky grp, shark seal the crack, prime, then a coat of Overcoat. Seems so simple....

If Overcoat is the answer, honestly don't mind paying the money for it - just looking for the right way to do it without stripping the roof.

On the first image it looks like you can see a dark grey topcoat between the new layer of topcoat, and if there's another layer on top of the existing one it might explain why it's cracked.

The cheapest option would be to sand it back and patch with GRP. I've used Overcoat in the past on metal and fibreglass roofs and have had no problems, if price is an issue though have a google about and see what you can find, just stay away from the Acrylic systems with or without fibres, they just don't last.

thanks for the reply.
You are correct in noting there is a second layer of top coat over the old, which is now peeling.
Are you saying that Overcoat would be a good and viable option, and would adhere and cover this up?

GRP is done in two coats, the first is fibreglass matting and resin, the 2nd is the gel coat which is the one with the colour

If you were doing it with GRP then you would need to sand off to the first layer of base resin aka the white stuff, but with Overcoat I would sand back the flaky areas (Wear a mask!!) and make sure the roof is clean and dry before applying the system.

thanks again.
I'll give the overcoat a go. It is pricy, but id rather that that re-doing the gap again.
