Vented Indirect Cylinder, Solid fuel boiler and underfloor heating

Hi Ed, I would say Jewsons would not supply off the shelf items of a similar nature. Most cylinder manufacturers will deliver anywhere for a fee, just ask when in conversation with them. The most important thing you can do is team up with a local plumber with experience in your requested system...

Vented Indirect Cylinder, Solid fuel boiler and underfloor heating

Ed, I would recommend you look at utilising a small ss buffer cylinder, say 250/300 ltr with a single solar coil and fresh water station. Look at Newark copper cylinders, call them and speak with Mark or Andrew. They will manufacture a cylinder you need. The solid fuel range will discharge all...

Whenever I've needed to drain the HW I've drained the outer tank too.

ACV or unvented? What specs? And other recommendations

Nope and wouldn't risk it. Manu does say 'Do not' in the book.

Heating water - electric only, advice please.

Yes. ACV cylinder with 6kw immersion. As long as you don't have a bath 160ltr will be fine. You can run 4 wet radiators from it too so you can remove the existing terrible night storage heaters. Call a local heating engineer with experience in ACV cylinders to get a quote.

ACV or unvented? What specs? And other recommendations

If you have a little more space, can you squeeze the ACV SLE PLUS 210? This has multiple connections for UFH and rads. I install many ACV units and have had a 210 running 3 showers no problem. ACV sell a 6kw, 1 phase immersion if you want decent CH & HW backup too (£95). Once you've connected...

Combi or system boiler - 3 shower rooms - 5 bed semi

3rd for Joule and Intergas :)- High Gain (Heat pump model) 200 Cyclone for even faster recovery, or you could always look at tank in tank for high hot water recovery and gas boiler buffer. Many options to choose from.

ATAG IC Economiser 35 - Newly installed

The new ATAG range is proving to be a wise choice for us as a company. The only niggle we have found so far is the wall jig, it could do with an additional ridgid brace at the bottom to help keep everything inline (easy to deal with though). Otherwise fantastic design, extremely easy to get to...

Replacing 3-way valve in wood-pellet boiler system

Hi Ben Thanks for the reply. Well I guess you know to isolate the feed and expansion cistern and then to drain the water at the systems lowest point (this will be at the bottom of the 500ltr buffer tank). If there are isolation valves on the flow and return pipe work to the house then these...

Replacing 3-way valve in wood-pellet boiler system

Hi Ben Thanks for additional info. More pics of current boiler and pipe work from boiler to buffer would be good. No dis respect Ben but are you absolutely confident that you can carry out the work? Is the heating and hot water controlled by motorised valves and thermostats? I would...

    Solid Fuel CH System Design

Your proposed system layout could give you hydraulic problems. As you are installing a batch fed appliance I would recommend you utilise a thermal store cylinder, minimum 200ltrs. This can be connected off the 2 tap ins on the Aga with 28mm flow and return as gravity only (make sure the cold...
