Hi we have Hoover HDB 854DN. today, the wash cycle was on while we were away. when we got back home, the circuit breaker for kitchen had tripped. Both fridge and washing machine were down. Fridge is back to life but not the Hoover washer dryer. there are no fault codes. Upon selecting a...

Hi The shower hose is in our bath has started leaking. I couldn't figure if the replacement hose should be a 'standard' one or a particular one? I am attaching the pictures . the shower is operated through a mixer tap & that tap is fixed on the wall. if it helps : I think i will need pliers to...

Advice needed - faulty heating programmer or something else?

apologies, I couldn't get back to this thread yesterday. I have since kept towel rails shut ...lounge heaters have heated up just enough for us to see this icy blast through! Given the 55k/Day covid cases, I am not going to test the valves for a week-10 days when weather turns up a bit. I...

Advice needed - faulty heating programmer or something else?

Ok, one more clarification. I am doing the pictures of the pipework near boiler again. It seems that i dont have a 3 way valve and could have seperate 2 way valves for gas & heating respectively. Pictures attached.

Advice needed - faulty heating programmer or something else?

Got it @terryplumb. If this icy weather goes on, is it ok to turn other radiators and water off like today's 'experiment' to bring some life into this room? It's the room where we spend most of our day in.. Finally, 1. Will the valve replacement require system to be drained and if yes...

Advice needed - faulty heating programmer or something else?

Also, how urgently do i need to get this valve fixed? Can this wait till march or April? I am hoping Covid is spreading less by then. Also - shall I proceed with the re-balance and for that use the WD 40 thing?

Advice needed - faulty heating programmer or something else?

Hmm. I went through the thread again to check if i missed any details. There are 2 i feel could help. Last year, relatively speaking, those 2 rads weren't as effective as rest of the flat. They weren't 'cold' like this year but other rooms felt better. In 2019, there was a mains water valve...

Advice needed - faulty heating programmer or something else?

I suppose its good news that nothing is broken @terryplumb & @Harry Bloomfield :-) I looked up balancing radiators instructions & first link was : https://www.homeserve.com/uk/living/how-to/balance-radiators/ I should be able to do it myself IF i can move the lockshield valves! I know...

Advice needed - faulty heating programmer or something else?

Right then, a 12 minute experiment concluded. here is what i did 1. switched off hot water (now wondering if heating programmer is broken at all) 2. switched off all good radiators with TRV control 3. switched off towel rails with instructions from @terryplumb and @sxturbo 4. watched the...

Advice needed - faulty heating programmer or something else?

one question though...TRV is likely to be the "In" water flow to the radiator, right? If that's the case, when I bleed the radiator, should i see water coming out? I bled radiators last evening and both radiators had plenty of water coming out of them. water wasnt warm though.

Advice needed - faulty heating programmer or something else?

@terryplumb : pictures of towel rails attached from both bathrooms, seems identical set up in both bathrooms. On either side of the Towel rail, the white caps ARE moving. Let me know which one I need to turn clockwise. And you are right sir , we have not touched lockshield or TRV ..I didnt...

Advice needed - faulty heating programmer or something else?

also given that this valve won't budge, i feel it could well be stuck..If you look at the picture, you will see it hasnt been touched in ages and has this greenish-white tinge to it

Advice needed - faulty heating programmer or something else?

@terryplumb - the boiler has a pressure gauge, i am including a picture. The boiler is a vaillant one I tried to figure today how to turn towel rails off. there isnt a TRV on the rails. On either side of the towel rail there are two white caps which I can move clockwise and anticlockwise. are...

Advice needed - faulty heating programmer or something else?

I think its my lack of attention to detail! I will do this test tomorrow : turn off hot water on programmer, ensure heating is on, turn off 3 good radiators and leave 2 faulty on and see if boiler is firing up in the 10 minute period and flame sign is on the panel. About the TRV : yes i did...

Advice needed - faulty heating programmer or something else?

right so did that. pipes running to the 2 faulty rads turned hot but rads remained cold. As i mentioned earlier, not ice cold slab of metal though. I didnt observe the boiler's control panel explicitly. will re-do this tomorrow morning and report here. out of interest if the boiler is burning...

Advice needed - faulty heating programmer or something else?

I thought living room rads were to be left on. I did that. observation to report is that pipes to the TRV went hot again but rads still cold. other observation is that rads arent ice cold. it's 3 degrees today, rads are cold but they arent like a cold slab of iron that i would expect on a day a...
