Is it normal for SDS Plus drills to have slight wobble?

To draw a line under this thread - I had been using normal rotary drills where the bit is rock solid and straight. I have found out SDS drills do have some play - it is normal. I checked basic to top of the range models - all have play. It is more a case of getting familiar and its a treat to...

NETAHEAT Profile 60e - which boiler is this? Is it safe?

Thanks John. It is 1930's semi detached bog standard house and as far as I can see, we have copper pipes, but I will double check. It is sand at the bottom of the tank, possibly unattended for at least last 7 years or more. Hi Hugh, it is indeed sand in the tank, water from mixer (picture...

NETAHEAT Profile 60e - which boiler is this? Is it safe?

Hi Hugh Jaleak, the water from main is freezing cold, so for brushing teeth etc, we use mixer tap in washbasin - is that not normal? The cold water tank in the loft is covered but is full of debris - please see picture attached! I intend to clean the tank very soon before we fit the water softner.

NETAHEAT Profile 60e - which boiler is this? Is it safe?

I also didn't understand the idea why TRV can NOT be fitted to the radiators - especially ones on 1st floor don't need to be running full blast during the day. I wonder if anyone on this forum could comment on this - any possible reason why TRVs should not be fitted on radiators of old boiler...

NETAHEAT Profile 60e - which boiler is this? Is it safe?

I also wanted to add we have a immersion heater in hot water cylinder and a gas boiler. The GS Engineer who visited us suggested we turn off the electric immersion heater and only use the gas boiler. He said the electric heater is a backup system and need not be used all the time. Does it sound...

NETAHEAT Profile 60e - which boiler is this? Is it safe?

Hi 75pete, I have got in touch with a gassafe engineer who is fortunately already familiar with this 'classical' boiler model! He will service the system, install MagnaClean pro2 and also do powerflush. I don't know for sure how exactly powerflush will be done and if the individual radiators...

NETAHEAT Profile 60e - which boiler is this? Is it safe?

Hi 45yearsagasman, nice name - says it all :) It is surprising to hear that water softner won't benefit much the standard heating system, probably there is already too much sludge etc going in an old system that is exposed to air / oxygen. I will install the 'water2buy' water softner anyway...

NETAHEAT Profile 60e - which boiler is this? Is it safe?

Hi Dan, sorry if I sounded to offend in any way, I didn't mean to at all. I accept my mistake, I probably understated the life expectancy of new boilers as my 'personal' experience was quite bad. Professionals like you surely know better. The good news if I have found a GasSafe engineer to work...

NETAHEAT Profile 60e - which boiler is this? Is it safe?

Thanks Dan_Robinson, my experience of new boilers has not been that great and I had issues with two new boilers over last 10 years or so. If a new boiler saves me on average £20 every month, new boiler's cost will take long time to recover? Thanks Gasman28, I have found a GSI...

NETAHEAT Profile 60e - which boiler is this? Is it safe?

Hi, I recently moved to a 1930's house and have inherited a more than 20 years old boiler (I come across a paper of its service from 1995!). It is NETAHEAT Profile 60e (please see the attached picture). Normally boilers these days don't last 5-6 years, and this seems really very old. Could...

Is it normal for SDS Plus drills to have slight wobble?

Many thanks for your detailed reply. When I used 5.5mm drill instead of 6, it some times the wallplug was getting stuck just before it went fully in. Perhaps I need little more practice. It might not be absolutely essential but I enjoy doing a precise job if possible. I wonder how I can test...

Is it normal for SDS Plus drills to have slight wobble?

:) :) .. I didn't know much about SDS (in fact still don't) and only the diamond core drill made me look for drill with safety feature - clutch and power, so ended with this Hitachi. I didn't know much about impact drivers either, so never bought one - but now you have ignited my curiosity...

Is it normal for SDS Plus drills to have slight wobble?

Hi 'Footprints' and 'Crank39', Many thanks for your replies. I thought some slack in the drill bit might be normal. The masonry bits are Bosch, so hopefully reasonable quality. I will try to put the drill in a rotary drill and check if they spin in a wobble free manner. I wanted to be sure that...

Is it normal for SDS Plus drills to have slight wobble?

Hi, I have almost always used rotary drills with keyed chucks and found even cheaper ones have drill bits straight and without wobble. I wanted to upgrade and purchased a Hitachi SDS Plus drill - 850 watts(~£150) and find when the chisel bits or masonry bits are put inside the drill, they seems...
