Roof of terraced house. Who is responsible?

Ha ha Problem now is that they’ve notified me and estate agents of a potential problem and if the tiles on my side get blown off the day after exchange, I’m not going to be able to claim ignorance. They’re probably the type to tell new owners all about it too

Roof of terraced house. Who is responsible?

I’m currently selling my house and have already moved out. Yesterday I got a vague email from estate agents saying neighbour had been in contact about ridge tiles. I assumed some tiles had blown off my roof in the wind so went over today to have a look. I’ve attached a photo. My property is...

Drain smell coming from bathroom basin

It's been 3 days now and there's been no smell since doing this. I'm surprised it was something so simple as the smell made me feel sick and I thought there must be some big problem. Thanks :)

Drain smell coming from bathroom basin

I cleaned everything thoroughly when I moved in to try and get rid of the smell, so although there was a lot of crud in there, it's been cleaned but the smell still remains

Drain smell coming from bathroom basin

OK, doing that now. Lots of bubbles coming out of overflow. You think that's all it is?

Drain smell coming from bathroom basin

I've done so with a foam cleaning product, but it doesn't seem to have helped

Drain smell coming from bathroom basin

I recently moved into a new flat and there's a horrible drain smell in the bathroom. The smell seems to be coming from the basin (if I remove the trap the smell gets a lot stronger, or if I leave the plug in the basin with some water in, the smell isn't as strong) so looking for ideas to remedy...

Central heating and hot water problem (possibly mid position valve related)

I have, but I just assumed it was some sort of frost protection built into the boiler and it was running correctly, so I never gave it much thought. And I didn't realise that there was a stat that could be turned up and down. Seems obvious now, but I was so focused on the valve and wiring.

Central heating and hot water problem (possibly mid position valve related)

I've wired things back up as they should be and turned the stat in the garage right down and everything seems to be working as it should be. So I'm guessing when the boiler was being checked they turned that stat right up to keep it running and forgot to turn it back down. Then, completely...

Central heating and hot water problem (possibly mid position valve related)

Can't see a model number apart what's shown here

Central heating and hot water problem (possibly mid position valve related)

@Johnmdc This is connected to the boiler in the garage. I've never noticed nor touched this before. My photo shows it set to 60. I turned this down to 20 and noticed there's no voltage going to the yellow wire. Turned it back up to 60 and get 240v on yellow wire. So that's what the yellow...

Central heating and hot water problem (possibly mid position valve related)

Have now double checked and the boiler fires when CH is turned on at the programmer despite the yellow wire being isolated. Nothing has been changed apart from the motorised valve innards

@stem The wires are as shown in your diagram

Central heating and hot water problem (possibly mid position valve related)

It's an Ideal Classic which I would guess is 20 years old. I'll check exactly which model when I'm home

Central heating and hot water problem (possibly mid position valve related)

I shall try to get to the boiler wiring at the weekend.

Central heating and hot water problem (possibly mid position valve related)

In my initial post I said that the central heating was permanently on, but it's possible that the hot water was also permanently on (I didn't check) and I had wrongly assumed that it was only the central heating that was stuck on (as the actuator was stuck on H regardless of what the programmer...

Central heating and hot water problem (possibly mid position valve related)

The boiler is in the garage, so I didn't actually go into the garage and see that the pilot light was lit, I just heard, or thought I heard it start and I then stuck my head out of the bathroom window, which is above the flue, and I could smell the flue and hear it extracting. So I'm pretty sure...

Central heating and hot water problem (possibly mid position valve related)

@stem I will add some better photos over the weekend to make things clearer, but you are correct that the grey wire is currently only connected to one other: the red sleeved wire from the programmer And there's no room stat, as you suspected.

Central heating and hot water problem (possibly mid position valve related)

Ok, I'll check on that. I'll probably go back to this at the weekend as I'm back at work today. Really appreciate your help with this and now feeling a lot less stressed!
