    Just to let you know i swapped the blacks and reds. I got the same result, back light always on and front room could be switched on and off BUT it worked via the other switch if that makes sense.

    I've swapped the connector to make sure it was OK. How its wired at the moment I have permanent light in the back and the front room light can be switched on and off lol.

    My mistake, the connector is just extending the black from the back room. Someone cut it to short.
